cabaye loftus-cheek barry bannan jimmy mac every now and again but he's hardly glenn hoddle before that andy gray and Gerry francis maybe Michael hughes a bit historically we don't really do creative midfieldewrs Geoff Thomas is in our all time XI nuff said great man but not a through-ball player Cabaye and RLC spring to mind for me too in recent times as comfortable on the ball but not the biggest strength of their game. Just about remember Gray and Thomas although like the rest mentioned more of an all rounder type and as you say not a ball player. Maybe a sign of the way the game has gone. A Pirlo type who keeps the ball moving. Even Shelvey has that quality.. I made sure I did not mention both those names in the same sentence!

He’s noticeably not taking as many players on this season and we seem to be funnelling the ball forward more evenly rather than hitting Zaha every time.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle A guy I know through work, who know's Wilf's family, told me the day before the Everton game that Wilf wanted away, was very upset & his heart was not in playing for palace any more. Sadly the performances this season back up what was said to me. Would he be picked, on form, if his name was not Wilf? It looks like a parting of the ways is inevitable now & the sooner the better for all concerned. It will be a sad day but the club is bigger than one player, how ever good he may be.

Yeah , I agree with you mate but i just cant see any club coming in with a big enough bid to persuade Mr Parrish to let him go and on his current form i cant see any club offering over 30 million for him. kind of a catch 22 . Wilf should be playing his best to persuade club to come in with big bids . Even if we got 30-40 mill for him i wouldnt trust Mr Parrish to invest it in the squad .

Thing is, Zaha's finishing isn't exactly brilliant. For all those memorable goals there are a lot of situations he doesn't convert. Very, very weak foot, can't take a powerful shot without pirouetting to get his body weight behind it thus losing his balance.

Suppose we got something approaching that, how do we spend it to reconstruct a squad without Wilf? And is the AWB money still in the kitty - bring our possible spend to £100m-£120m? Are we confident that CPFC knows how to work the transfer market to bring in the top-line players we would need to ensure we stay up? Is anyone confident that this will all turn out for the best?
