Whatever the rights and wrongs of Trump’s presidency why do people take it so personally? How has he adversely affected any of our lives? Even Maine Eagle hasn’t come up with anything Trump has done which has affected him in the slightest.
Beyond hurting feelings what has he done wrong?

As the actions of US Presidents tend to have far reaching effects which impact us all in a variety of ways I personally have always taken a keen interest in who they are, what they do and which direction they are leading the western world.

I have always believed that Trump is, in my perception, totally unsuited to hold the position. I was appalled when I first learned, from an American friend of mine, that he was contemplating a run. This was several years before he did. I thought it was a joke but he didn't and supported him even then. We had some lively discussions about what a POTUS should do. Much of the deep routed attitudes to be found today in Trump's base were evident in him back then, which until those discussions had never risen to the surface.

My belief has only been confirmed since, as has my shock at the way some Americans now see their place in the world and their willingness to abdicate their role as it's leader, preferring to concentrate on themselves. As I regard this as a short sighted, and ultimately self harming position, those discussions continue whenever we meet. We remain friends who just disagree. His bunch of mates are also avid climate change deniers. You wouldn't believe some of their reasoning on that subject!

As for respect for the aged...coming from a guy who commented that he wanted a second referendum because more old leave voters would have died off.....yeah, I'll take a pass on your hypocritical lectures.....thanks.

As for 'Bullying', read mockery....for that guy anyway. I reject the notion that I bully those that don't agree with me. I treat each individual individually according to our past interactions.

You're just still smarting.

Oh and Merry Christmas.

America is doing very well as an economy.
Trump has done his job very well.

Economic cycles often have very little to do with political actions and any impact of their's always has a significant time lag.

So if anyone was responsible for the upswing it was Obama and not Trump, not that stops him claiming the credit and the gullible believing it.

Trump's own impact is only now beginning to kick in. Don't hold your breath! He is already blaming the Federal Reserve!

That may well be but if the US economy was tanking would Obama be getting the blame?

It's not true at all.

The response of the markets to the Trump presidency was almost immediate. There are criticisms that can be made upon the type of economics Trump believes in.....however, you can believe that his guy was along with all the others predicting that Trump would bring in economic failure.

They were wrong, once again.

This is one of the guys who earlier in the thread was pushing conspiracy theories on Russia-gate and backing the Mueller report to dump him......Indeed this guy...even after the Mueller failed completely still pushed the idea that it would later come through.....Now the Democrats don't even talk about it.

He's so biased on Trump that he has no objectivity.

It often seems to me to be to be less confusion than deliberate misrepresentation. Nasty prejudice I tend to agree with though.

When someone has consistently argued against holding any referendums on complex national issues, and for our elected representatives to take those decisions on our behalf, for it to be suggested they want one is plainly ridiculous and that they wanted people to die, downright insulting.

It's a million miles away from suggesting that IF a referendum was held the result might be impacted by changing demographics.

Of course he would with the chorus of disapproval being led by Trump.

The Mueller report, by the way, is a long way from being dead and buried, by the Democrats or the forces of law and order. It has just been stymied by Barr and his ruling that a sitting POTUS cannot be prosecuted. Many of it's finding have been passed to State courts, especially those in New York, ready to be actioned at the appropriate time. There is a great deal of water yet to flow under the bridges but in the meantime the water remains as mucky as ever.

Those who believe that Trump's claim that Mueller "exonerated" him are at best naive and worst disingenuous.

For sure I am biased, but that bias is based on many years of observation and examination of his actions. The man is a fraud. A total fake and con man.

The second paragraph is largely verifiable fact and not simply an opinion.

So are the unemployment and balance of trade statistics.
