Like I said conflating appointment decisions, practical control and policy decisions is not appropriate. You said, "what we see as government policy is in reality civil service policy". I dont agree it's a forgettable non event as personal details for such high profile people whatever you think about them, is a security risk. I agree there will be some bigger howlers to come though. With the proposed changes to the structure of Government planned by Cummings, Brexit and the political power shift transition, it will create a toxic environemnt and the fallout will be highly amusing.
