Funnily enough that’s exactly what twenty seconds of internet research told me as well!

I can assure you that I never scoured the Internet before I revealed the information.I had a feeling that he started out as a central defender and I am delighted you confirmed that I was proved right. If indeed I had bothered to avail of the Internet for such information I really don't think it would have been a heinous crime.

This "cover for 3 ppsitions" is really overrated. I hardly ever saw players who are very good on multiple positions. One of them is James Milner.

Others just "are sent in" in those positions, doesn't mean they are any good.

Players shpuld be best at 1 ppsition- the one they play in. That's why there's a starter and a backup for every position. If somehow in a season, both of those are unavailable, then someone fills in.

Nathan has 12 matches as right back and some as left back. Not enough to be considered good in 3 positions.

Pretty sure the 6 months for pre contract agreements is if your looking at a player in a foreign league and vice versa, I.e if we were talking to a player with 6 months left in the Scottish or Spanish league we could sign them. Pretty sure same league is 3 months

Didn't know he was in his last 6 months of contract. Good info! When a player is in his last 6 months, you don't even have to talk to the club, you talk to him directly and get his signature. WBA would maybe bluff that they would freeze him out of the squad for 6 months unless we pay them SOMETHING. But from what I read, they want up to 5-10 million!! Considering he only has 6 months left, just sign him up and wait for the summer would be best. Player should understand if well advised by agent and family. And honestly, WBA would still use him if they're a serious club.

On the other hand.....does Palace really need him? He's practically a center back, not a right back. He has 52 professional matches as center back and only 12 as right back. Where is coming as center back? We've got Cahil, Tomkins, Sako, Kelly. There's our 4 center backs for the next season. None of them is going away.

Give it a rest Willo...it really is so tiresome and ruins the good posts that you do make! The bloke was unheard of a few months ago (and still is to most) yet you know and can recall his entire playing history! ....Along with every other current or former player in the world!

Do us all a favour...

You have been found out and exposed so many times before but you continue to do it...what is wrong with you man?!

I thought it was 6 months everywhere cause it was the Bosman rule, but apparently you're right. Even more, apparently in England it's just 1 month!

I had no idea as I've never played Football Manager (like many here say I do ) ).

Well, you really could settle it with his manager you know, even if technically you aren't allowed to give him a pre-contract. Come one, everyone does it, players get put forth and discussed with agents every day. If he knew for sure he has a contract here in 6 months, he'd wait out until the legal period to sign (3 months or 1 month or what it is in England)

I also remembered that Nathan Ferguson was a youngster playing as center back for West Brom. Not sure why you wouldn't believe him.

Well, so long as he follows the rules, he can post as he chooses, can't he??

I heard West Brom had another highly rated youngster going to Villa, via a Spanish team and they'd not been compensated.

Overrated?! How can you say that a situation where a team member can potentially cover in three different positions is overrated?! I’d say it was flippin fantastic.

Of course he’s going to have a strongest ‘Plan A’ position but it’s not uncommon for a player to be able to play at full back and/or centre back and as Denis Irwin proved it’s also not impossible for some players to play at the top level in either full back position.

It is possible that Nathan does have the attributes to play at centre back or in either full back position and with respect, I’m more inclined to listen to the opinion of people who have managed and coached him on a daily basis than yourself.
