On getting to that approach, the grounds being improved (allegedly), proposals are in place for the training ground, so we are working on the physical infrastructure. That will be an asset which will help increase the value of the club and something that we wont lose if we get relegated.

No idea what's going on with scouting. I'm not sure Freedman is to blame. I think Roy has shown a lack of interest in transfers.

In terms of playing youngsters, we have 3 problems. 1) A manager that wont play anyone that's not 100% first team ready. 2) A manager that wont bring on subs. 3) No comfortable victories where we can bring players on without any pressure, Burnley is the only game where we've been 2-0 up with 10 minutes left.

Your post has a lot of truth in it and is saying what I have been saying for a long time. Roy is set in his ways and will not change, he has his favourites and does not try different players he has at hand. He has shown no interest in transfers and that's his excuse for whining about lack of incoming players. I do not believe for one minute that SP and Dougie get players in without consulting him. He will not try the youngsters when if he did he might be really surprised at what they can achieve. As I have said Roy is too set in his ways and will only play defensive football hoping for a break to go forward. He needs to try playing attacking football for a change as other teams can read him like a book and we get pinned back all the time. Roy is keeping us in the top league but that's about it I am afraid. No decent player wants to come to us looking at how he sets up our team.
Its a pity because we have a good set of players that could do so much better with a new plan B.

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

Do you have some inside track on the football club? Are you a 'fly on the wall' who is privy the the innermost conversations in the club? What a supposition. 'No interest in' the transfers. How do you know this? then to suppose that what you write is fact, you accuse Roy of Whining'. Biased, I think.

Then you say write that Roy sets us up defensively and then that this means that teams 'pin us back'. How can they 'pin us back' when we've been set up to defend and break/ Contradiction, my friend.

Can't go with these incomplete and biased ramblings, I'm afraid.

Sorry.

Good on Roy. He works miracles with very little resources. Genius manager of men and resources. That, I should add, is my opinion, not fact, .

It seems that I am NOT alone in my thinking if you had bothered to read the whole thread. I am sorry if your views are not like mine but you need to rein in on your replies and appreciate that we do not all have the same views as you do and you need to think before you post your replies. You tend to nick pick to try and justify your points and twist things around.
As for me being biased I think that comes under the heading Pot calling kettle black. You seem to think we should all toe the line and think like you do....well sorry I have my ideas and you have yours and you need to accept it.

Really?

I can't understand how anyone can state that Roy is not interested in transfers. That seems a wild claim to me.

As for nit picking, I can't see that at all. I'm responding to a statement that Roy isn't interested in transfers. He's the team coach, for goodness sake. Why wouldn't he be interested. And the choice of 'Whining' to describe his comments on transfers when we are beset with injuries and very little transfer activity in the summer seems unfair and biased to suit your argument/opinion.

Oh, and while we're not reading posts/threads, you seem to have missed that what I've written is my opinion, not fact. It is you who have made supposition and dressed it up as fact, which I think is wrong and therefore have expressed my opinion to that effect.

There seems to be blind protection for Roy on these forums, keeping us mid table is not a miracle. As stated in my first post, we have the 9th highest wage bill in the league, that should translate into a fairly safe league position.

He knows how to keep us safe, and he knows how to keep his job.

I don't know how good or otherwise a manager Roy is, as neither am I an expert in football management, nor am I privy to what goes on during the week and behind closed doors.
What I do know (as oppose to 'believe') is that after two and a half seasons of Roy we are comfortably placed in the table at this time. Yes it could easily go pear-shaped at any moment but I believe that this is unlikely given the way the team is set up, i.e. difficult to break down.
I would like to see more attacking football, especially at home, and especially in the first half I'm still waiting to see my first Palace goal at the Whitehorse Lane end - I was away for the Norwich game), but in order to do that we need players who can deliver a more attacking approach and we don't, in my opinion, currently have them.
One day, and it may be after Roy has gone, we will get our wish for more attacking football (hopefully with a good balance regarding defensive responsibilities, so no, not a return to the Pardew days). in the meantime, I will continue to enjoy watching Premier League football at Selhurst Park (and the odd away game here in the Midlands).
