Just a round up so far:

Goalkeeper- no question, Guaita

Right back: 11 picks for Ward
3 picks for new right back
0 picks for Kelly

Center backs: 15 picks for Tomkins
14 for Cahill
2 for Sakho
0 for Dann or Kelly

Left back: 10 for PVA
4 for Riedewald
0 for Schlupp

Central midfielders: 12 Kouyate
12 McArthur
6 Luka
4 Riedewald
2 McCarthy

Right midfielder: 6 for Townsend
6 for Ayew
3 for Zaha
0 for Meyer

Left midfielder: 12 for Zaha (not really another option here)
1 for PVA
1 for Riedewald
1 for Schlupp

Strikers: 13 for Tosun
5 for Jordan Ayew
1 for Wickham

So it's basically an easy 11 to make, with the only question either Townsend or Luka. If Townsend plays, then Jordan plays centrally. If Luka plays, then Jordan playes in the right and McArthur plays in Jordan's original second striker slot.

If I may say, I think the team would defend even better with Townsend in the team inatead of Luka. Even though Luka is a defensive midfielder, Townsend is faster, presses more and can drop back fast with the opposing players. Luka can be a "wall" for the opposition and knows gow and when to fault, but is easily outran on counter attacks.

Plus, having a left footed player cut on from the right and Zaha cut in from the left means opportunities for fullbacks to go up and create chances. Jordan is right footed. As a right winger, he isn't as suited as Townsend.

And actually playing with 2 hard working and mobile strikers like Jordan Ayew and Tosun should give enough cover for the midfield so that both Kouyate and Luka aren't used at the same time. Either Jordan or Tosun would press and draw back to help. They're not like Benteke. I've seen the Turkish in other matches. He isn't a lazy one

That’s why I said for me it does. PVA is our best left back when fit and on form. He has the most going forward and links up with Wilf well. He hasn’t been in form but at the moment he is still our best option.

Luka comes in as he has the best range of passing and can build attacks from the back. While he hasn’t had his best season, the scapegoating of him has hardly been fair. He has frequently had the most forward passes, key passes, and passes in the oppositions half when he plays as well as among the highest tackle rates in our 11. If we can get him back to his best he offers the most going forward other than Macca of our CDM options.

Ayew keeps his place for me, I’d say it’s more a question of Tosun or Townsend for me. Either Tosun up top with Ayew out wide, or Ayew up top with Townsend playing out wide.

On current viewing I’d say yes he is a better option. He had a fantastic match with his back to goal and offered a threat to the goal throughout.

Yeah, all fair points. Only thing I'd disagree with is Tosun/Wickham...but who really knows.

I can't answer.

Observations would be that I rate Kelly extremely highly as a centre back. And I'm not as sold as many on Cahill's defensive qualities. Especially in tight situations.

But basically I feel good about all our centre backs when fully fit, although Dann would be bottom of the pecking order.

I think McCarthy will prove our best midfielder if he stays fit. And I'd love to see what Riedewald could do in a passing-minded midfield.

Ayew has probably nosed in front of Townsend out right.

Assuming Riedewald is not going to stay at left back, I feel our distribution from both full-back positions is a profound weakness.

VG, Wilf, Tosun & McCarthy are the four I suspect we'll come to miss most when they're not in it.

EDIT/OBSERVATION: Tosun still has plenty of time to prove himself a dud. I'm imagining he plays as he did v Man City every week.

Guaita

Kelly Tomkins Cahill PVA (just)

Luka
Koyaute

Zaha Townend Schlupp

Tosun

I always thought Townsend would be good as a o10. He can shoot from distance quite well, is a decent all round footballer with a very good engine to get back into a five man midfield when we defend but still get up nesar the forward when we attack, and could drift from wing to wing to overload the opposition in wide areas too.

Now we have two forwards who are willing to run I would go back to 4-4-2, although against the bigger teams I would probably go 4-5-1 and switch Tosun or Ayew for Kouyate or Luka.

Vicente

Ward Tomkins Cahill PvA

Townsend McArthur McCarthy Wilf

Ayew Tosun

Wilf does not have the defensive discipline to play in a 4-4-2 unless he's one of the strikers. Nor would it be an effective use of his talents.

My Team

This could change if we ever bring anyone in.
I think our biggest problem area is in midfield we have nothing going forward

You may be right, but he has previously played well in that position and he's hardly set the world on fire in his current role this season.
