I know it's easy to say after a defeat but after many many years as a season ticket holder I'm seriously thinking whether I will renew next season. Roy's football is boring to watch and he has only one plan which he refuses to change. Most of every home game being a display of passing back and across in our own half. Nobody seems capable of taking the ball forward and mistakes lead to panic clearances. Substitutes are used very late in the game if at all. With an ageing squad and ground with no sign of investment from the owners I fear that relegation is inevitable next season.
People will say be careful what you wish for and point to Charlton and Curbishley or even Pardew's era but I want to be entertained at matches at the moment I find the matches and the tactics dire.

well, to win you have to score, and to score you have to commit players forward (we do not) and have some ideas (we do not).

This team deserves to go down - and it will.

It won't.

Eventually, maybe, I don’t want to just be better than the worst

Would be amazing to see a midfield that can actually support or dictate, we have neither (except Meyer and we know that wasted story)

Cabaye was one of the best ever in that respect and now we’ve just Kouyate who does not really have the composure or skill to be effective often enough

Midfield is the problem, massively, it’s disgusting to watch sometimes. Can’t even kick a ball properly

I'm afraid the lack of investment is evident. And without some new blood Roy will walk at some point, probably in the summer. And yes, Dougie will probably take over. The chances to refresh the squad are squandered window after window.

If the takeover doesn't happen very soon I fear for our prospects next season.

Agree.. Our Midfield was woeful today. We were outplayed in both the Southampton and Sheffield matches. We desperately needed creativity... And today lacked any

So it's Roy Hodgson's fault for picking a goalkeeper who can't catch a simple corner and drops it into his own net.?

No but it is his fault using the same tactics and mostly the same players week after week when we habitually create the minimum of chances that would lead to winning a game

Draws are great but not week after week. Rather lose 2-3 than 0-1 every now and then! That’s how desperate I am to see goals and celebrate something

You must admit the ‘midfield three’ are painful to watch. McArthur is the only one who gets a pass from me as he actually does things that are not bog standard expectations from a professional footballer paid that much..

Our same tactics is always to play the ball up from the back four which tends to slow moving the ball forward. Perhaps, this is Roy's style. Many a time When Guaita rolled the ball to either Cahill or Tomkins it got passed sideways to each other and then backwards Guaita. I would prefer Guaita to kick upfield past the midfield for players to attack.

Look - if the only tactic we have is to play for a draw, then if a mistake happens you are set to lose. roy negative football again.VG has made many great saves this season.if today we had a plan to score, that vg error would not be decisive. truth is roy is not a bang average manager. he is way less than that, but rides on the luck of the draw to appear more capable than he ever was. yes, we are good candidates for relegation this season with him at the helm

I know the real reason Riedewald wasn't playing from the start or brought on as sub in the centre of midfield instead of the aging and slow Luka: he was player of the month. Well dne Roy, another kick in the teeth for the blinding obvious.

I am determined to live until I am as old as I look.

You would think that with players coming back it would have been the ideal chance to move our player of the month into a central creative position and see what he could do, the worst that could happen is we lose... but we did that anyway, -laying the same old sideways passes, going nowhere balls. It really is no wonder Zaha wants out. Can you imagine how frustrating it must be for someone with his talent playing with these tactics.

And another thing, wouldn’t hurt Steve Parish to explain our transfer window policy or rather lack of it... but he won’t.

Just got home after watching the game.
Naturally unhappy to lose.
I don't blame the goalkeeper - he made an horrendous error but he has saved us more times than I care to remember so he is allowed that.
On that though - having watched it again - their player was very close to him and our defenders were nowhere to be seen - what happened to helping your keeper out at corners?
I slated the Manager earlier in the season and then had to retract it but now he has to go - sorry - he is a negative coach and is not helping us.
Yes - he has had to cope with a dreadful run of injuries and he has not been helped with the lack of transfers but he is half the reason we play backwards and not on the front foot and so his time has come even if it is Dougie who comes in - he is as we know a better Manager than transfer man!
Benteke should not have started and should never play for us again.
Ward proved why we need a new right back.
Our midfield is static and without invention and Luca - who we all love - must be colour blind the amount of passes that go to the opposition!
Wilf is trying but probably can't wait to leave now.
Ayew had to play out of position because of Benteke - start Townsend and play Ayew in the middle surely?
We have scored no goals at home in two games and let in three against opposition on paper that we should beat.
Our position in the table disguises the fact that the Management doesn't really know what it is doing, that the Manager is negative and that some of the players need more fitness and an injection of enthusiasm and positivity.
We are bang in trouble now and there is/was no need.
Things have to change quickly and in many areas/parts of the Club otherwise even if we stay up this season then next season will see us down.
Sheffield United might not be very good but they are nudging Champions League and they play as a team - both for and with each other at pace for 90 minutes - sadly I cannot say the same for CPFC!
Oh - and the Referee was appalling in that his consistency was non existent - the NON sending off (their player) was a joke as was the sending off (Ward) that was retracted!

Sheffield were c*rap in the first half. If we could have got the goal we probably deserved the end result may well have been different. Apart from that the previous post by Dolphin was about right.
