Sheffield were c*rap in the first half. If we could have got the goal we probably deserved the end result may well have been different. Apart from that the previous post by Dolphin was about right.

They know that we will set up for a draw so all they have to do is nick a goal and it's 3 point smash and grab for them.

I'm afraid the lack of investment is evident. And without some new blood Roy will walk at some point, probably in the summer. And yes, Dougie will probably take over. The chances to refresh the squad are squandered window after window.

If the takeover doesn't happen very soon I fear for our prospects next season.

Here's hoping Roy will walk. I'm a season ticket holder and have been for years. I've been to more games than I've missed since 1973 and the football being played now compares to the dire crap of the mid eighties.

It's becoming a chore to drive the 35 miles to games to watch that absolute rubbish week in week out, and I'm seriously considering not renewing next season. It's meant to be entertaining and enjoyable. It's not.

I can take losing, it goes with the territory of being a Palace fan, but I can't take this negative sh1t that Hodgson serves up much longer. No wonder Zaha wants out, and no wonder we can't attract a decent striker (the ball is hardly ever up that end).

Statistically this is our most successful period in our history. That may be, but I'd rather be playing decent attacking stuff and getting beaten, than this 'defence first' utter tosh and still getting beaten.

1 goal in the first 45 minutes in 13 home games - 3 wins in 18 games - the substitutions predictable & too late - the football is dross no ambition we keep blaming strikers but we play so defensively no plan B - fed up watching this every week

Roy has to go before it’s too late similar run to Pardew except under Pardew we were scoring goals.

People still moaning about Benteke ask yourself if you were playing upfront and had no service week in week out and every time the ball just played backwards how would you feel.

Under Big Sam he was excellent say yourself why his form is all to do with the negative tactics deployed by Roy.

It’s tome to say goodbye to Roy.

I think Roy should set up for the Everton game with 4 narrow in defence, 3 holding midfielders, Andros or Ayew on the right, a non-striking striker up front, who will gently jog about, and Wilf who might get us a goal. If we go a goal down, there's always the following week. I am sure the boys will have played very well, and we will have been unlucky not to have got a draw, can't fault their effort, unfortunate to give away the goal, sometimes the referees don't always get it right, we have a lot of injuries or the boys are very tired and we just need to get to the next transfer window so we can bring in 4 or 5. Dougie will be in Scotland trying to pick up the next out of contract wonderkid to immediately loan back to Inverness Caledonian Thistle as he has a lot to learn before he is 29 and suitable for the Premier League. Jeff Schlupp is nearly ready for his 1st team return, and he will be like a new signing. Have you seen the artist's impression of our new stand - looks fabulous and will help us to boost attendance in our 900,000 people catchment area.

Exactly the same as the away fixture - and it worked a treat again!

Just got home after watching the game.
Naturally unhappy to lose.
I don't blame the goalkeeper - he made an horrendous error but he has saved us more times than I care to remember so he is allowed that.
On that though - having watched it again - their player was very close to him and our defenders were nowhere to be seen - what happened to helping your keeper out at corners?
I slated the Manager earlier in the season and then had to retract it but now he has to go - sorry - he is a negative coach and is not helping us.
Yes - he has had to cope with a dreadful run of injuries and he has not been helped with the lack of transfers but he is half the reason we play backwards and not on the front foot and so his time has come even if it is Dougie who comes in - he is as we know a better Manager than transfer man!
Benteke should not have started and should never play for us again.
Ward proved why we need a new right back.
Our midfield is static and without invention and Luca - who we all love - must be colour blind the amount of passes that go to the opposition!
Wilf is trying but probably can't wait to leave now.
Ayew had to play out of position because of Benteke - start Townsend and play Ayew in the middle surely?
We have scored no goals at home in two games and let in three against opposition on paper that we should beat.
Our position in the table disguises the fact that the Management doesn't really know what it is doing, that the Manager is negative and that some of the players need more fitness and an injection of enthusiasm and positivity.
We are bang in trouble now and there is/was no need.
Things have to change quickly and in many areas/parts of the Club otherwise even if we stay up this season then next season will see us down.
Sheffield United might not be very good but they are nudging Champions League and they play as a team - both for and with each other at pace for 90 minutes - sadly I cannot say the same for CPFC!
Oh - and the Referee was appalling in that his consistency was non existent - the NON sending off (their player) was a joke as was the sending off (Ward) that was retracted!

Fully agree. negative football a la Roy is the issue. now why would Roy heap all the praise on the blades in the pre-match interview for having the capability to reach a european position this season when if we had won today, we would be tied for points? how does that make our players feel?

The average fan on these forums would know how to set up against Hodgson's teams and pedestrian and predictable tactics.
We went 1 down and, similar to Southampton, and never looked like getting back into the game.
If anything they could have got a second goal.
Can't use injuries or transfer window as an excuse as we had a strong team and bench.
We are not set up to create chances or goals.
Although he has not been supported with transfers, Hodgson should not be let off the hook for how we play as ultimately he's accountable for tactics.

He was sh!t and couldn't make a worse effort at putting the ball in the net if he tried. His head's gone. My biggest criticism of Roy is his perseverance with the useless cvnt.

A couple of days ago i stated that we are now a MICKY MOUSE CLUB and wasn’t happy saying that, after today’s pony performance which is our normal performance these days, the only way I see out of this is to get relegated as soon as possible because until that happens nothing will change. If we stay up this year the people at the top will just carry on the same way, we need to sell the club and get rid all the people at the top.

The way we set us is fine against the top 6/8 home and away. Needs to change against the teams round us. 3 holding midfielders at home to the teams near the bottom, making it 8 defenders and 3 attackers
is no good.

Funny how fans have been saying that for well over a season now. The old dog can't learn new tricks I'm afraid. Parish will be forced into a decision because I can't see where our next goal is coming from.
