We have fallen to 14th place but still have a 6 point cushion and a vastly better goal difference.

Surely,3 wine to secure our status for yet another season, should be a walk in the park???

Looking at our next 5 games Everton Newcastle Brighton Watford & Bournemouth, 2 at home and 3 away. The target should be 2 home wins and 3 away draws and that should see us safe with plenty of time to spare. If it drags on after March then things could get very nervy.

Given our form and the way we are playing at home in particular I think it will go down to the wire and we will be lucky to finish in 17th place.
That assumes that 38 points stays up otherwise I fear relegation - I truly do - unless we change our tactics and let the players play!

38 points will be enough, maybe even less than that, and we will end up with 40+.

I see us staying up with quite a few games to spare but this will only paper over the longer term cracks.
If issues regarding strengthening the team in the right positions and with players who lower the average age of the squad aren't addressed I think next season we will fight a relegation battle all year with or without Roy.
Probably without as I see him walking at the end of the season.
Cant say I blame him either. Zero support in the transfer market. Its so disrespectful to have such an experienced manager who has achieved so much to give him nothing to do his job.
Could never see Allardyce staying for 5 minutes at a club that wasn't willing to give him money.

Yep, you are right, he doesn't.

If the team was playing half well I'd be quite confident, but they're not and I'm not. What's happened to the team that gave Liverpool a decent game? We're in a serious slump.

Sure a couple of wins could change it all fairly rapidly. I just can't where they're coming from.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

We are currently bottom of the form table:

We are about to play the team in third place. I don't agree that 38 points will necessarily see us safe. Apart from Norwich, our relegation rivals are averaging around a point a game, which takes them to 38 points. I think that 40 could well be the safety target this season. Article in The Times today says that in theory both we and Newcastle should be ok - but since we have both won just once in ten, we are at risk of being dragged into the mire.

Have we got players that will fight for the badge if we get closer to the relegation places..
and if so who are they?

Everyone who goes to Palaces matches knows what tactics we go with, "go for Draw dont get beaten", but we are getting beaten and playing poorly....

The saying "it aint broke, dont change it!"

when will "H" accept reality that these tactic are (really) not working.

And I keep hearing on TV, Palace play the same way, home & away... when other teams are flexible...
