Cahill to Tompkins, Tompkins to Cahill, Cahill to PVA, PVA to Cahill, Cahill to Guaita… it's like watching a re-run of Hodgson's England, and is hardly going to get the crowd going

I watched the Leics v Chelsea last week and there was plenty of sideways and back passing, every club in the league does it these days.

Arguably a necessary part of the game these days, but when a team hardly crosses the half way line and has no attempts on goal there isn't much for a crowd to get enthused about, wouldn't you say?

Yes, indeed. Teams let us play a bit in our own half but as soon as we try to cross the halfway line, they press and either:
1. They win the ball and start a quick counter, which we struggle to stop or
2. WE do a panic pass which ends up with one of their players and they start... (see no 1 above)
Either way rarely anything to get excited about UNTIL
last ten minutes - we trail by a goal and we up our tempo and sometimes score an equalizer but usually miss a sitter or a reasonably straightforward chance.
Having said that, if both Wilf and Andros start the game today with Ayew up front, things might just be different.

In the old days of terracing you could just go and join the singers. Not anymore. So put 400 people together in the middle of the homesdale and that’s your lot.
Most away clubs bring thousands who all sing. Sadly the Ultras are not loud when it’s just them. Get everyone going in the Arfur and the Homesdale and its a different story.
In the white horse you can’t hear the Ultras on their own. It needs everyone joining in. Of course with the current style not much noise

Not helped when the HF now sing songs only they know instead of songs everyone know and join in with.

Singing is for happy people ... perhaps funereal wailing would be more appropriate at this sad time?

I think we've got complacent; we've had a few years of commentators raving about the noise at Selhurst and now a lot of people don't think they have to try anymore. Watching disappointing football doesn't help, but also I reckon a lot of people have got p1ssed-off with the ultras and won't join in with anything they start.

One only needs to view games on television and witness fervour generated by positive events on the field of play.Crowds respond passionately as their team gets on to the front foot, asks questions of the opposition, and dominates and score goals with the opponents "pinned against the ropes".

Sadly, us supporters do not witness any domination by our team, and week on week endure dour abject football with a earth of goals.Watching the team at 'Selhurst Park' is NOT a pleasant experience and the performances are not conducive to supporters rallying behind the team in a vocal and passionate way.Maybe this will change if we are in the Championship next season.

NOT a slight on your post Willo, but im using it in response to the OP(hope you don't mind).
We have scored 1(ONE) goal at home this calender year & only 10(TEN) at home this season, that's less then half our total goals, no wonder the atmosphere at SP is dire/toxic/crap, who the hell WANTS to sing(apart from the kids)
