There are no positives to relegation, stupid thread.

Several people have already pointed out various aspects that could be considered positives of life in the Championship so in fact it's posts stating that there are no positives that are the stupid ones

Relegation is devastating to a club, the unseen affect is with the employees, Sunderland I remember laid off 160 people employed directly and support staff.
Just because someone wants to see us play
Luton at 3pm on a Saturday is not a positive.

Spot on. Was about to write an almost identical list. I’d add more Saturday 3pm kick offs as well.

Not that I want us to go down, but my happiest Palace memories have always been in the Championship. It’s more entertaining and dog eat dog.

There’s more satisfaction to be had down there, rather then aiming for mid table obscurity each season in the Prem. There’s a certain pride in supporting a small plucky club, and sadly we’re not really that anymore. It’s something that Man Utd and Liverpool glory hunters could never really understand.

It’s important that we stay up this season due to the state of our finances. I fear it would be a slippery slope for us. Once we’re in better shape I’d be happy to spend a few years in the Championship and would probably get my ST back.

I’m quite happy with mid table in the premier. Better than finishing in division 3

Trivial fact - Palace used to win 5-1 at least once a season, maybe next season?

I agree with what you say but more matches at 3pm on a Saturday and easier access to tickets is a positive to many people.

Do you recall when we were promoted that there were a large number of people on this forum who said that they would rather we had stayed in the Championship.

I was not one of them as I would much rather watch my team play Liverpool and Manchester City than lower division teams but I can understand their point of view

Naturally wouldn’t want us to go down, however I do think there are be positives.

More games
Less tourists
Availability of tickets
More goals/wins
The chance of winning something instead of the annual relegation battle

This.

We're a second-tier club playing in the top league so going back to The Championship doesn't bother me at all.
The fact that we'll have little to show (infrastructure/bank balance) for our longest ever stint in the top-flight does.

A lot of people are arguing that they prefer the excitement of competitive football one tier down rather than mid-table obscurity. When have we really achieved that, we only ever get to 11th or 12th after a lucky run from mid-March onwards?

We thought we'd actually done it by the middle of the season this time, but not to be. So the rest of our season is going to have excitement, albeit of the desperation kind.

Parish the parasite and the Americans will sell the club for a song to ambitious owners with deep pockets. Roy will resign which will enable us to employ a younger manager who will start blooding young players like Dreher, Kirkby, Perrick, Gonzalez (dubbed the next Coutinho in that Daily Mail article)- If we stayed up Roy will continue playing the 30+ aged players who will play to his disciplined ways. Which will mean we get bored s***less for the next 2 to 3 years!! Relegation will force changes which in the long run might be better for the club

Try being a West Ham supporter, spent millions and in the bottom 3

but heres the pickle...
Say you are correct & all great winning regular playing Barnsley, wall, charlton etc etc.
What do you aspire to?
coming back to the Prem to start it all over again.
(or worse still winning games in league 1 after dropping twice)
The way Roy sets up is fine Away but a bloody disgrace at home and as for signings, what young player in their right mind would want to come to us at present unless its for the dollar (why bowen went to wham)
Roy needs to target certain games fron now on in & treat em like a cup final to get those last 7-10 points required.
Then fresh start next season with a younger manager(dont ask me who / the Brentford chap?)

Kids, tired of being bothered by your pesky parents?
Then leave home, get a job & pay your own bills, while you still know everything.

We need this regardless tbf bud, whether it's in the PL or Championship as we can't carry on as we have been.
And agreed, Roy needs to target certain games and go all out to get a result but as a club we also need to target our future as spunking money up the wall on an out of kilter wage bill obviously isn't the way.
We need a workable plan and we need to stick to it.

We'd have nothing at all to show; just an aging and expensive (wage wise) squad with little sell on value (except possibly Zaha), who've no chance of getting promotion.

Go on stokes forum and ask their fans.

10 years in the top flight and now they're following the Sunderland route.

Better fans home and away easier tickets and back to Saturday afternoon maybe. But you can't assume more goals and greater success
