players are often talked about as being put in the shop window. Is it the case with CB that Roy has put him in the window, not for other clubs to be attracted, but for CPFC supporters to see that he needs to go?

Tosun was injured and Wickham gone but we did have another centre forward in Ayew who was played out of position and would probably have done better than Benteke if he played in his position instead

Maybe if Townsend was fully match fit he would have started right and Ayew centre.

The only way he will be gone in the summer is on a season long loan, nobody will be prepared to pay a fee for him.

Inclined to agree, just shows how massively we overpaid.

Saturday is the last time he should be in the starting squad. Ayew would have been in the right place a couple of times & probably scored. Benteke will never score & if Roy persists in starting him we will be relegated this season.
Bite the bullet & get rid, I would have straight away after the Bournemouth debacle.

I read an article by an ex-footballer recently, I cannot remember who it was, but cannot shake this picture of Benteke now.

He mentioned in the article that Benteke was one of those players who just does not have a 'love for football' and this for me was a real light bulb moment.

Sure he can win headers, has a touch and he can shoot of course, but he has no enthusiasm or desire. Our team do not create many chances and a player who is not bothered and happy to do the bare minimum each game is not going to get goals for us, hence his return. I would have thought given the state of play he would be almost goal-hanging desperate to score, most strikers would, but he still refuses to get in the box.

He can be fit as ever, with his natural talent and play every minute but he does not have the right mentality for this team. We should have sold him a while ago, I had been one to stand up for him in the hope he would come back, but this has passed now.

Some of us have been hoping against hope that he'd put one of his chances away. I was so disappointed to see Ayew stuck out wide on Saturday - wasted out there especially with Andros back and raring to go.

He might be raring to go but if someone doesn't play for 2 months I guess the level of fitness is not the one required for a full match.
Or at least it never happened to me that a player out injured for 2 months have been played straight away in all my sport years...

I take your point but had hoped he'd be given more minutes that he was. Basically once Vicente had gifted them the goal, we needed Andros on the pitch.

I'm pretty sure that was Stan Collymore talking about why Villa shouldn't take him back. He basically said that he plays football but he has no passion for the game. I have to say I didn't have much passion for my job, but I would have enjoyed it a lot more getting paid what he earns.

With a bit of luck Roy will drop him against Everton with Ayew taking his place and Andros coming back to start which should give us a better balance

The best we can hope for is staying up by the skin of our teeth. and Big Ben scoring a few on the run in so someone is will to take a punt on him in the summer. I thought his luck had changed on Saturday after Pickford's howler, but if that was the case the one off his chest would have gone in and not hit the post, and he would have buried that header.

5 league goals in 2 and a half seasons, scintillating form that will have buyers queueing up all the length of Holmesdale Road. No wonder he's given a place in the starting line up, marvellous value for 130k a week.

I agree 100%. What I hope is he can knick a few goals that someone may think he has turned the corner and we can recoup some of our original "investment" and get rid of his wages.
