Oh I don't doubt there are some wind up merchants and trolls there but you can still gain a sense of what people are thinking.

On the Trump supporting groups he is almost a god. He certainly can do nothing wrong. It's nothing less than a cult. He is milking the Bible belt for all it's worth.

On the anti Trump groups he is hated more than any US politician than I have ever seen. That includes Obama who was vilified for years by the right.

Trump has divided the USA and has done nothing at all to try to heal that division. Indeed he is actively trying to make it worse.

That this has happened alongside our own divisive event makes me feel very uncomfortable. I think the USA is a country in crisis who will face many challenges in future years. That in turn raises huge questions for everyone else, which we will struggle to solve alone. Expecting that a trade deal with them could be a panacea for us is very foolish in my view.

You do realise that people who use Facebook are more interested in what you had for breakfast, or what their pet has just done, or how they look in the latest selfie, than anything that has any importance?

And you take notice of this, and hold weight to it.

UNFEKKINGBELIEVEABLE!!!!!!

You all screamed about trump and how bad it was but now we can look at the situation with no war or threat of war but he got rid of a very bad person.

Do you now think trump was right?

It continues to make me feel very uncomfortable. I understand the realities of what is effectively an undeclared war between Iran and Israel, supported by the USA. Normal rules don't apply to wars. I would though have preferred this to have been done by a proxy or, if by the USA, for them to have denied all responsibility.

It's timing and the way Trump behaved afterwards leeds me to think this was much more to do with playing to a domestic audience than any real strategic imperative. Generals get replaced. Perhaps by even better ones.

The unfortunate downing of the passenger plane came to Trump's immediate rescue in terms of instant retaliations. The Iranians had too much to deal with at home than mount reprisals.

I doubt though that will last for ever and that something will happen at sometime. Americans will lose their lives because Trump needed a big diversion at home to take the viewers eyes away from impeachment.

Really? Trump killed a mass murderer and there have been no real reprisals. Trump called it right,
It would be really good if the left ate humble pie for once.

An unfortunate downing of a plane.

Gloss over that. It was Trumps rescue.

If Trump downed that plane, KILL THE B'STARD

I am not interested in that kind of gossip.

These are FB groups which do deal with serious issues. Search for them. You can read the posts without joining. I'll give you 2 so you can get a flavour "Vote Trump Only" as a pro group and "A SKUNK NAMED TRUMP" as an anti group.

But they're not really serious, are they. It's Facebook. Like most social media, it's used by people who have time to use it, not the majority, who are at work. Earning money. To pay taxes. To keep these social media wasters alive. They are not the real world. If you start to believe them, you have too much time on you hands. Come on man, you must understand that?

Ok, I googled "A SKUNK NAMED TRUMP". A serious FB group.

After the picture of a skunk with Trump's face edited onto it. the following:

"f*** this windbag"

"When you spew bulls*** all day long, you mouth starts to look like an asshole"

Maybe I typed in the wrong address?

[Link]

Is it me? Am I the fool?

e: Forgot to say, couldn't find the other reference anywhere.

Also, if you think that is a serious group of people you are so far removed from reality that you are not worth debating with.

In fact, the more I read, the more deranged it sounds.

Wisbech Eagle, have you ever thought about talking to somebody neutral, face to face? I'm getting worried about your grip on reality.

Agreed, but they won’t be Republicans.

They certainly have it coming.

Here's (I'm not an elitist) WE's man....billionaire Michael Bloomberg talking about crime and policing minorities.

Yum yum....so delicious.

He's talking sense of course and he was relatively successful on crime in New York....relatively.

However,....truth in today's 'woke' Democratic party is like a grenade bomb.

Not an inch of spin involved.

What I said on "page 400" and in the last day or so are both true. I suggest you re-read them.

American ex pats and locally born rural Filipinos compromise different groups. One maintain a lively interest in US politics and watch the US news channels and read on the net, whilst the other only follow local news.

Some might well be retired, unable to work or unwilling to work, but they still vote. You can get a flavour of the divisive mood which permeates US society these days, and the type of reasoning that lies behind it. You can work out how and why their views are being shaped by the "information" and propaganda that's posted there.

If FB group's, and the like, were not so important why on earth do you think they are targeted in the way they now are by those who wish to promote their views? Why would Trump bother with Twitter if it didn't matter? It's in this way that you can spread "your" message, your own version of what is true, to the masses without having the filter of a journalist fact checking it. Unless it's a Fox "journalist" as they have become mouthpieces for team Trump and his propaganda.

If you want to know how effective these campaigns have been then staying in touch with such groups is essential.

Not traditional Republicans it's true.

They are Trumpians. Some politicians. Some lawyers. Some journalists. All are criminals.

They will be prosecuted at State level where a Presidential pardon is unavailable.

The only way to stop it would be if Trump finds a way to suspend the constitution. Watch this space. He might try.
