I agree 100%. What I hope is he can knick a few goals that someone may think he has turned the corner and we can recoup some of our original "investment" and get rid of his wages. Perhaps his goal will be the catalyst for further goals this season which are instrumental in preserving our place in the PL and supporters will do a 'Volta face' and hope he is retained for next season amidst chants of "Benteke is back" !

He is looking very lean and seems to have recovered his pace, but I'm still no more convinced he has recovered any sort of composure in front of goal. Yes he scored, but to be honest if Pickford had saved it we would probably have complained it was a poor finish. I don't really buy into Collymore's comments as however bad Bentenke has been he always seems to be keen to get back into the starting line-up. Personally I think the problem is that his style even when was in form was fairly laid back, and fans will accept that when you're scoring, but when you're not then you become a big target for abuse. I do think he has worked harder than in the past when given his chance but I'd rather he just started scoring

From the stats posted on other threads. We have the lowest amount of crosses out of any team in the league. His strength is his ability to get on the end of crosses. We also have the lowest number of chances created... which can't help strikers.

I have seen a massive improvement in him in his last 2 games but it is that laid back attitude that does him no favours. That silly celebration he does boils my blood. If I had gone so many games without a goal and then got one at Everton I would have celebrated like a mad man. It will be interesting to see if he keeps his place.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Benteke (my theory) ' by bexleydave Right, here it is: Benteke doesn't have a problem with his head/mind. It's his body. When you look at the way he runs and his general physicality, it is very different to when he was banging in goals for Villa. When you see him run these days, it seems as if he's running on his tiptoes, he doesn't look balanced. He's clearly not as flexible in the hamstring or achilles department as he was. Just look at how it used to be (Villa). I reckon the Palace physio dept. Have been remiss in spotting this and have taken their eye off the ball (so to speak). If they focus on sorting this flexibility/balance issue out, then I reckon he could be the man he was. I now await the backlash.

Heard lots of comments that when you watch him in the pre-game warm-ups, he simply doesn't run or strike the ball properly.

When he out sprinted Keane down the wing against everton was the first time iv actually seen him run properly for a long time.
