Easy to play the grumpy old man over stories like this and whilst I am in the camp of never having heard of this lady and being disparaging of the genre of TV that she appears linked with, any loss of a life before its natural time is a tragedy.

My boy explained to me last night what this Love Island show entailed (I had heard of it but never watched it) but, and I accept that this is me being me, it struck as almost a form of 'soft' prostitution? Or am I wrong?

None of which detracts from what is clearly a tale of terrible personal loss and I suspect that almost nobody involved will emerge with much credit.

No you're pretty much right with the soft prostitution comment... It's one of those shows that impact on teenagers that instead of aspiring to be a doctor, lawyer, vet etc they aspire to try and fast track fame through shows like that...

However extremely sad news... As a mental health sufferer myself its just awful that the poor girl couldn't see any other way out bless her... RIP

I was thinking after I heard the news that the only way out for here was to take the action she did. The fact that in her final moments she didn’t phone someone and just talk it through is the really sad part as she would have known loads of people. Maybe that in itself is the problem knowing loads of people but not having anyone real close in desperate times.

Also read that the boyfriend who was assaulted wanted the case dropped so why couldn’t the CPS drop it if the victim is happy to forgive.

Because it was a domestic and believe me I know from experience that the old bill and CPS piss there pants over any domestic incident and treat every incident like someone is going to be murdered.

Common sense and discretion goes completely out the window and everyone is treated as a serial killer... And that's the truth basically!!

How many women "forgive" their men and refuse to press charges only for them to do it again.

Domestic violence is a serious issue and from what the tabloids reported at the time this was a serious assault. Men who are assaulted by women is a far smaller group but they are worse at reporting it then women because of shame and embarrassment.

I don't agree with her management company who are now blaming the police and CPS for pursuing it. If she was found guilty I have no doubt that the judge would have taken her mental state into account when sentencing. I believe it was the boyfriend who called the police well whoever it was you cannot untell that story so her career suffered from that night.

This was a tragedy but she like a lot of others chose a shallow career path which is built on physical appearance and very little talent. Because of the incident with the boyfriend she lost her main presenting job and I guess the opportunities for a 40+ woman who relies on her looks dried up.

My sympathies to her family and friends.

#metoo yeh great.
Imagine the cops had dropped the case and then down the line she did it again.
Sad yes but social media has a big part to pay in a lot of present day issues.

Just listening to a former CPS prosecutor only 10% of domestic abuse cases end up in court often because the victim refuses to complain. Over 100 killed each year may of who had been assaulted before and either refused to complain or the police failed to take action.

So the police and CPS are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

All lives are precious, she won’t be the only person to have committed dioxide this week but they don’t get plastered all over the news. Don’t know who she is, don’t care and definitely don’t believe the current media circus has bought any solace to her immediate family out of all of this.

I suppose the really sad thing is she will be forgotten by all but her family by next week. Such is a low level celebrity life and death.

Domestic abuse really messes people (generally women) up for decades and gets them into a cycle that's almost impossible to break.

I tried and can’t watch more than 5 seconds of it. They’re all simpletons with little character full of Botox.

I’ve seen other tv programme panels discussing Love Island where the contestants play games that are the kind of things you have on Mediterranean boat parties. The girls straddle the boys and the boys standing up dry fvck them is one I remember seeing. Not to mention the snogging of different people every night and musical beds. I heard or read on here maybe there might be bisexual people going on.

Didn’t a former contestant commit suicide? Not sure if he died.

What I also heard is a respectable parent explaining some of it can be good for educating teenagers on relationships. Things like not standing for being treated or spoken to by a partner in disrespectful ways.
