I expect loads of fans from abroad are drawn to our top facilities and young, talented, top signings. Judging by the sheer quantity of Palace tops all over the world, our merchandising is also reaching never before witnessed volumes of sales. That might attract so many new fans.

My Grandfather played for Palace as n amateur in 1910.My father grew up round the corner from Crystal Palace Park and with his five brothers were all die hard Palace fans My parents took me to Selhurst for my first Palace game on Xmas Day 1946 when we beat Torquay 6-1. We lived in Selhurst Rd opposite South Norwood library. I had a trial game for Palace but, sadly, was not quite good enough. Stood on the Holmesdale terrace until we moved to the Arthur, had season tickets Block V Row O Seats 87/8/9 until my Dad became to frail to attend any more and I relocated to Cornwall for a better quality of life. To this day would not pay a penny to watch any team other than Palace Am really happy that thanks to the internet I can watch all our matches whether on BT Sport or streaming.

I started watching Palace because in 2014 Bolasie got an In Form card in Fifa- I watched the next match, got hooked and haven't missed a leauge match since. Hell, at this point despite our dire form I'd consider moving across the pond right into Croydon! In America where most of us sporting fans are gloryhunter like most others, we also enjoy a good underdog story and love upsets. I also can see a future for us as America's Prem leauge team- I mean, damn... we're the red white and blue Eagles! If only we had American owners that wanted to win and weren't purely businessmen. (The 76ers suck as well in the grand scheme of things and I don't see them competing anytime soon for any titles in their leauge either) #YanksOut

I was born in Coventry and moved to South London the year Coventry won the FA Cup, ‘87 for those who don’t remember. Always loved playing and watching football and made the decision I would support my local team as soon as I moved. I’ve supported Palace ever since, having done about 15 years as a season ticket holder. I still watch out for the Coventry scores but Palace is my passion. As a few of my mates say, “of all the teams to chose, you picked Coventry and Palace!” I wouldn’t swap it though, was fortunate to hardly miss any matches during the up and down years which for me provided the most entertaining football since I’ve been watching (well, the promotion years anyway). Been some great players to watch over the years. I was a centre forward so loved the contrasting styles of Wright, Bright, AJ, Armstrong, Murray, but when it comes to entertainment, no-one comes close to the raw talent of Zaha (maybe some flashes from Dyer, Salako and Bolasie). Started off living in Croydon, South Croydon, then Sanderstead, Warlingham and Woldingham. It appears there is a common thread here for supporters to slowly move further and further south! I’m determined to stay inside the M25 at the moment though.

I catch the train from Hassocks to attend Palace games. A number of Palace fans get on at Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath.So yes, there is definitely a Palace presence residing among the blue and white contingency in that mid-Sussex area.

Very much liking this thread, some interesting stories. Mine's comparatively boring. Old man grew up in an Irish immigrant family in Peckham, friends supported Tottenham/Millwall and one Saturday he had no-one to go football with so checked the paper and decided to ride his bike from Peckham to Norwood to watch Palace aged about 9, something I don't think would happen these days! We lost 3-0 apparently but he knew he was home. Me and my brother didn't have much choice in the matter but we wouldn't have it any other way and still all buy 3 season tickets together each year, attending when we can and loaning them to friends/family when we can't. Have transitioned from Lower Holmesdale to the Arthur to now the Glaziers (for old man's comfort and bar facilities) over the last 20-30 years.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |
