School isn't for everyone. As a black person I feel the issue is more to do with the culture

Would you say black boys are more easily influence led astray by their peers? Fine and no problem individually but issues arise in a group or around someone or usually some people that bring people down to their level of respect and behaviour.

Unless there is external repression, genes affect the culture that emerges....they aren't unrelated.

But that's a very very complicated road to go down and I'd much rather not travel down it.

Well I went to uni and have a degree I recently quit my masters and wasted 10k. They need to reform school to be based on 'working class' norms such as subjects that working people can get into like carpendtry after they leave school instead of the middle class norms (fake smiling, fake sense of order etc). 'History, Eng literature' etc should primarily be in private schools and top middle class schools.
PLUS English working class people not just black people are suffering with these 'middle class' norms schools as they are taught nothing about the good parts of their history and being English etc.

The thing is that school really is about preparation for life and work and is probably the best way of getting the message across to kids to not waste the privileged opportunity others in the world don’t get. Very few succeed without knowing or being able to satisfy the above working life requirements, unless you’re one of the few musical artists or sportspeople.

School needs to refelct WORKING CLASS NORMS not just black people most English working class people not going to uni cos of brainwashing. Change the curriculum for all working class schools via subject changes and change of norms so it can relate more

Essentially I agree with you and I know what you are getting at.....but aren't those choices already available if you had chosen them?

There's both a practical and academic route.

I agree, however that for many working class kids knowing what to do is very difficult and they often have less supervision and parental oversight and care.

The wrong choice can feck everything up....and it sucks...totally concur.

David Lammy must be right.

The disproportionate high number of black men in prison must just be symptomatic of a racist society.

Nothing to do with their behaviours.

It used to be like that when I was younger with Secondary Modern schools for learning life skills and grammar schools for English lit etc

That wouldn’t be right either for the ideological crowd. Positioning certain children separately to the academic or focused children for life.
