By ok you mean ok for a draw because we’d never score in any of those games because of setup, instructions, mindset etc.

It is crazy how 1 win can change everything this season. If we lost yesterday we were staring at a relegation battle and now we are a few point off a European spot. Only god know where we will end up this season. Beat Brighton next week and we are safe and they will be fighting for their lives.

Yes, you have good common sense ..the displays have been bloody good especially considering our very average ability to pass to each other along with the act of actually putting the ball into the back of the net, Hodgson deserves a bleeding medal for what he's achieved not criticism, we have too many fans being utterly ignorant of the situation our manager has found himself in.

We might look close in points but remember we have a highly difficult run in and for me our season is pretty much almost finished when that starts. Plus we haven’t the squad to cover injuries. I was never getting carried away with our start up the season. I remember Pardew, we’ve had things go our way this season and some narrow victories we didn’t really deserve the 3 points. Well not in all of them. But this bad run we’ve had is a concern, just as it was under Pardew. I’ve only ever wanted us to be stable away from relegation AND not go through awful runs. We can’t seem to do both.

Roy has said it's about ensuring we average at least one point a game so as to stay up. We are now plus 6 (33 from 27). I expect him to continue the same or similar set-up etc until he feels we are safe. Then I expect him to be a little more adventurous and even allow a couple of the youngsters some game time (off the bench, of course).

Exactly the point I've been trying to get across, one goal and everyone's over the moon, we played almost exactly the same against Sheffield United I remember very clearly Zaha playing some beautiful balls across their box for someone to bash in on at least four occasions! ..we lost due to a mistake from our solid keeper and suddenly we are the worst awful team with the most horrendous awful manager who hasn't got a clue of how or what to do with the players on the pitch lol ..you have to laugh.

But long losing runs without a hope are potentially damaging.

I don’t know what you’ve been watching. Same for some in the match thread yesterday. The intensity v Newcastle was completely different to any game I can remember for quite a while. I remember the Sheff Utd game we deserved a draw, but when we’re coming away with feck all and we’re dropping and the harder matches are on their way, if anyone tells me they weren’t concerned they’re either lying or Parish. As for Roy. He’s making changes because of injuries, if you paid attention. Otherwise it’s the same players all the time. You don’t pay attention to detail is the answer here. We have not been anywhere near a relegation place all season, Pardew was hopeless in defending and admitted being so because he wanted to see more goals in the other end, Swansea was what he got ..Hodgson will never ever get his selection on the pitch behaving like that because although it was very exciting to watch under Pardew if goal-scoring becomes a problem like it did for him relegation will happen without any doubt, Hodgson appears boring because he is very well aware of the fact that we need a strong base to build our attacks from he needs to be careful going forward and exposing our keeper, if you care to watch all our games under Hodgson again you will notice that we do attack well but we do so at appropriate times the complete opposite to Pardew. Also, the teams below us have huge scary games to play ...take a look at West Hams fixtures for example I reckon they could get 35 points max, Norwich are down along with Villa who are really awful at the moment, not to mention Newcastle and Brighton!! we are so safe it's laughable. We are safe because of yesterday. And yesterday happened because we didn’t give them a breath on the ball because what we were doing became stale and predictable for the whole league. I think Roy caught Newcastle unprepared for us yesterday. That’s my one line reason on why we won, so there, praise for the manager, because simply, and hopefully he recognises, the previous is starting to pull us down. Most managers have a shelf life of 18-24 months at a prem side so maybe he’ll not stick to one or no chances per game or no shots for a month. They all find you out in the end.

When players don't cross the half way line, pass it about side to side in their own half, have no shots on goal (all I presume under instruction from the management) the aim of winning every time is unlikely. Let us all be grateful that we played on the front foot against Newcastle and got a deserved victory.

Horses for courses. Roy will have clocked that Newcastle try to play out from the back but aren't good enough to do it and set us up accordingly. The lack of goals has partly been down to the lack of quality as we saw yesterday although our set piece delivery was much better. PVA has his critics but has an impressive goal scoring record. We played OK against Everton and deserved more from the game but were let down by poor defending from experienced and normally reliable and players and poor finishing.
