In the 1970s Palace set a league record by scoring FIVE goals in 11 minutes (in the first half, no less - in the old 3rd Division) Can't remember the opponents. Just remember that until that day our goal-scoring was comparable to today's team, and I think it was Alan Whittle bombing down the wing. We were 5-0 up at half time and resorted to type in the 2nd half finally winning 6-2.
Not sure if the record still stands.

Wasn't it Grimsby? I'm sure I was there.

I don't have any recollection of defeating Grimsby 6-2.I recall beating them 5-0.
Was the 6-2 against Swindon ?

I thought it was Swindon but it's a long time ago and I didn't want to say definitely.

I wasn't that sure when I posted it was Swindon but I have been ruminating about this matter and believe it was Swindon,Don Rogers came on as sub against his old club and this was his last game for us.

This was in the long and distant past and the years dim the memory, especially at my ripe age, so this might be total and utter hogwash.

I believe we hold the record for the most penalties awarded in a match v Brighton in 1989 in which we were awarded 4 and missed 3 of them and they were given one, all in a 27 minute period.

Definitely Swindon, 6-2, 5-0 at ht.

Peter Taylor ran their defence ragged - John Trollope, father of future Palace player Paul, was marking him poor guy.

Didn't we also equal that record against WBA some years later. I was at the match (at West Brom) and seem to remember 5 penalties but could be wrong.

Does the following extract from BBC's gossip column count as trivia of the week? If not, if you can find the Sorloth thread, move it there.

Real Madrid are monitoring Crystal Palace's Norway striker Alexander Sorloth, 24, who has scored 21 goals in 30 appearances while on loan at Turkish side Trabzonspor this season. (Evening Standard)
