Last week the son of a friend settled out of court with the Police for a case of mistaken identity (theft from Tesco), £2,000.
To be fair to the Police, they acted on the clip of CCTV video provided to them by the store rather than viewing the whole incident themselves, staff shortages etc.

The Police have assured our friend that scenarios such as this will be addressed fully in future and were equally nothing short of ''fantastic'' when dealing with our friends/sons complaint.
The Police also discovered, after viewing the full CCTV footage for their internal report, that it was blatantly obvious that our friends son was clearly never a suspect and should never of had his face plastered all over the internet (the son only found out that he was 'a wanted man' after tx's from friends who had seen his image on social-media).

For the record, the real culprits were two dark skinned foreign men (known to the Police). The particular Tesco store in question employs 100% dark skinned foreign people. The original CCTV clip put forward by Tesco as 'evidence' was 95% concentrated on the son. Our friends son is milk-bottle white. Maybe an 'inside job', who knows.

Now armed with the official Police Report that completely rubbishes the original statement my friend received from the store, Tesco are next in the firing line.

Yup go for it, this is either rank incompetence on the part of whoever at Tesco reviewed the security footage or something more sinister.

When I first joined M&S they showed us a video with actors where till staff collude with their relatives to defraud the store. Luckily? security were on to it straight away.

My first thought was yes but what if the collusion is done by security they are just as badly paid as the store staff.

At the store I worked at we regularly had people shoplift expensive food and wine we were not allowed to touch them but had to call security who often were following somebody else in the clothing section so failed to respond.

Hmmm I thought, a team of shoplifters could use that knowledge to their advantage.

"Err mate you act suspicious in the clothing section whilst we load up in the food department"

"But what if security catch on?"

"Don't worry he's a mate of mind he'll take his time coming to the scene of the crime we'll be long gone."
