Alan and Don Rogers were a formidable forward attacking force in the early/mid -70s. Great days to remember. And there was another wee feller from Millwall Derek Possee, but he didn't last long. Not a lot of heading scope with Whittle and Possee!

And of course he silenced the crowd at Sunderland in the FA Cup with the goal which led to the chants of "The Roker roar is no more".

I do hope he had an enjoyable birthday.

I recall the bygone days after the game when supporters used to walk alongside chaps with transistor radios tuned into football stations so that these supporters could hear the results.How times have changed.
