Companies may ask them to volunteer to take another 20% cut for 12 weeks but the firm will effectively put on hold their original contracts of employment? If staff lose their jobs completely surely, they would be entitled to some financial compensation and that would put even further pressure on their employers? What a minefield ... let's hope the next 12 weeks delivers salvation!

Ideally, she should be fed at work and her canteen could hold stocks of the bare basics for her to buy. Potentially easily arranged as her canteen has to be supplied by someone.

News from Cornwall according to the Guardian although I don't have the link ""People are also apparently not avoiding travelling further afield. The manager of a shop in the Cornish resort of Polzeath tells the Guardian that out-of-towners are heading for their second homes. She worries about the risks this could pose to elderly locals. The Scots are rumoured to be rebuilding Hadrian's Wall.
