Just imagining you in your Anderson shelter surrounded by tins of spam that you’ve been stockpiling for years waving your flag of St George and your tin hat on.

Doesn’t quite do it for me sexually though unfortunately.

So you’ve been completely ignoring your own beloved government’s instructions then?

If politics is where you are going then thank the lord your mob didnt win.
Corbyn giving us everything we want because we 'deserve' it and he can.
Abbot telling us 4 million police are out there and McDonnell closing all our bank accounts.
Luckily we have a pragmatic set of leaders who are doing,or trying to do their best for all of us without any prior experience (the whole world tbh) of a situation like this.
This beloved government as you say with scientific help will hopefully (god willing) get us or most of us through this horrible and frightening time.
Try not to have a go at all pensioners for being old. You might be there one day.

Cafes, bars, restaurants close tonight. One last big piss up and spread of germs it is then.

80% of wages up to £2,500 paid to people.

How long is that affordable? Serious times ahead.

That is only being paid to companies that keep on their staff and I guess that most restaurants and pubs will just lay off their staff so won't be able to claim.

One of my sons is a chef and he expects to lose his job completely.

Then there are the small companies where the directors pay themselves the bare minimum and take the rest in dividends as they will only get 80% of the bare minimum as it will have to be justified by Paye records

I saw a sad clip on the internet of a nurse that had just finished her shift, in the shop looking at empty shelves crying as she had nothing to eat and exhausted after a demanding day.

Something needs to be done to ensure food gets to the right people. They should have some meat, veg, milk etc put aside for key emergency workers.

It is difficult for nurses who don't have a partner.

My wife is a nurse and she works 12 hour shifts leaving home at 6:00am and returning at 8:15 pm so she has no chance to go shopping but fortunately I can do it for her

Compare to Italy. Much worse crisis but the shelves are full and people orderly.

We are supposed to be the stoic dunkirk spirit types and them the emotional excitable types. Stereotypes eh?

Those days are long gone. Brits nowadays would no longer be willing to lay down their lives for freedom as they would rather moan about it on Twitter or forums

Isn't that the whole point of the wage subsidy ... to retain staff? Companies may ask them to volunteer to take another 20% cut for 12 weeks but the firm will effectively put on hold their original contracts of employment? If staff lose their jobs completely surely, they would be entitled to some financial compensation and that would put even further pressure on their employers? What a minefield ... let's hope the next 12 weeks delivers salvation!

It is appalling that a key worker does her long shift then has to join the mobs pillaging our supermarkets. Ideally, she should be fed at work and her canteen could hold stocks of the bare basics for her to buy. Potentially easily arranged as her canteen has to be supplied by someone.

News from Cornwall according to the Guardian although I don't have the link

""People are also apparently not avoiding travelling further afield.

The manager of a shop in the Cornish resort of Polzeath tells the Guardian that out-of-towners are heading for their second homes.

She worries about the risks this could pose to elderly locals. Cornish authorities are concerned, too, and have urged people to stay away. ""

Come to Cornwall for a warm friendly welcome.

And from the Mail

They're a lovely lot down in Cornwall.

"In an open letter, the leader of Cornwall Council, Julian German, and Cornish Tory MP Steve Double said people travelling to the county would put 'unnecessary pressure on our services'."

When all this is over and the Cornwall tourist board is trying to drum up business...

Not only the super rich who are fleeing London ... at my wife's firm many youngsters are giving up the bright lights to flee to their hovels up north.

The Scots are rumoured to be rebuilding Hadrian's Wall.
