We'll only clear £20m to £30m for Wilf now. As ever, it's not worth selling. The same quandary for everyone...us, him, and prospective buyers.

My worry is if he stays simply because there is a lack of clubs being willing to pay the fee we want, rather than him choosing to stay, we might see his performances tail off even through lack of motivation.

The club will have to be realistic and take the best offer. Wilf is a professional footballer and he'll play football wherever he is ... he knows he has to deliver to maintain his value and salary. After all, he has all those properties to pay council tax on.

Could not agree more. Was at the Watford game and think the love and connection between him and the crowd was there again. Pleased me no end. Simply do not understand people wanting to see him go. Even below par performances for his standard are hugely important to the team.

Good on Wilf. Good to see some footballing giants helping those in need. Modern day lords of the manor. Hope Wilf stays.

He’ll be renting them for money again at some point and I doubt he’s got mortgages. Makes no sense to give banks money with millions in the bank.

Good on him. You don’t have to give everything away. Just help when you know you can. I don’t know how others can sit there knowing they can and don’t or make excuses.

I can’t agree. He may have been off form, injured, petulant, playing to different tactics, but one thing about him he is always trying. He has been frustrated which makes him frustrating for the fans, but he is competitive and wants to win. Against Watford he started to shine again. If he stays he will make thousands very happy.

If I had a top PL player's income I would invest it in property, wouldn't you?

Wilf to be commended for donating his flats to NHS staff and he also donates 10% of his 'obscene' income to charities.

He puts many others to shame ..

I would add to that whilst I shared initial concern it’s not a bad move for someone who’s career has a very limited life span to invest in property, I think a few footballers do this.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I read somewhere in the last couple of weeks, that his property company rents these out to business people visiting London on very short to mid term leases.

Just watched the 2013 play-off final, currently posted on this site. Seeing Wilf repeatedly bamboozling the Watford players, hearing one of the commentators describing him as "by a million miles the best player on the pitch", and seeing the smile on his face, all came as a nostalgic reminder of what he used to be.

Well he's still under 30. Wait and see if his enforced rest has healed any injuries he may have been carrying. He might just be back to his brilliant best.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.
