Wilf to be commended for donating his flats to NHS staff and he also donates 10% of his 'obscene' income to charities.

He puts many others to shame ..

Well you're, with all due respect, an idiot.
Any ''top PL player'' earning around 4x in 1 week what the average person earns in 1 year has absolutely no need to ''invest'' in anything, let alone inflating further an already inflated property market.

But you want to ''commend'' him?

But in two months he pays the same tax as most of us do in a lifetime.
Makes you think.

Just watched the 2013 play-off final, currently posted on this site. Seeing Wilf repeatedly bamboozling the Watford players, hearing one of the commentators describing him as "by a million miles the best player on the pitch", and seeing the smile on his face, all came as a nostalgic reminder of what he used to be.

I watched as well, Watford players were thugs back then as well.

Why has anyone got a problem with Wilf - or any player for that matter - earning good money?
If we were offered it we would take it!
He earns what he earns through market forces.
In this instance he has made his properties available for free to front line service personnel and well done him in my opinion!
Someone says he donates 10% of his salary to charities - well done him again!
Sounds like a decent young man doing the best he can for himself, his family and now others - what on earth is wrong with that?
Add to that his tax bill - along with other wealthy individuals - helps us all to pay less tax and helps to keep our services paid for - many thanks to all of them!
Envy is not a pleasant thing!

And it must be quite special to still have 2 players in the regular starting line up nearly 7 years later.

I always struggle with well done’s to people who make money from starting with lots of money in property. It doesn’t require much skill. There’s no borrowing so yields are always profitable and there’s no exposure to economic recessions. I don’t begrudge people doing it while it’s still allowed but it isn’t how I see entrepreneurialism and it certainly is moving homes out of reach of their fellow citizens, causing the property shortage in the first place and a lot of the time just means a different tax payer.

Like I say, I don’t begrudge anyone doing it but they don’t get my congratulations. If you’ve built a portfolio up from very little then that’s more impressive.

Same as in the FA cup semi final too. and every league game since then.

The common denominator being that Deeney was in the team and their talisman on each and every occasion.

Wilf wasnt born rich. His family wernt rich so your 'built up from nothing' fits him as well.

Wilf started his property portfolio with millions of pounds so my comment still stands. Compare doing it that way to doing it with not very much at all.

The Press hasn't been full of stories of Premier League players trying to do something positive at this awful time.

One of the very few, is one of ours. And yet still people moan.

Being able to afford to do it is not a consideration. Zaha doesn't need to do it.

I know some very wealthy people who wouldn't part with the steam of their piss unless there was something in it for them.

It's not envy. It's a hate of injustice. When someone, say a carer doing a really necessary job is unlikely to earn
in a year - say £20K what an EPL player considers that an insult for a week for his efforts playing a game, don't you think that some priorities have gone a bit crazy?

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

It's what you generate for the company, business you work for. Hence why city bankers earn millions because they make millions. PL footballers earn millions because TV pay billions. Market forces.
