btw the deleted word is s-n-i-g-g-e-r-e-d - we've got PC predictive text, that will upset some people on here, apparently the pc term for a stifled laugh is 'snegroe'.

I got into the audience for the first comic relief and got a 10 minute blast of L&L in between videos of Lenny Henry being patronising in Africa - I know the beeb shows were naff, but live is a different matter, no matter how naff the tv product these guys were pros, they paid the rent making people laugh and when you were sat in front of them they knew how to make you laugh - Jimmy Saville starting his car ah-uh-ah-uh-ah nothing original, and the studio bods change the lighting to alter your mood, a glowing pink when sid and eddie were on bleach white for lenny in africa, but credit where it's due I s******ed, chuckled and laughed away, if they did not have presence and talent they would not have been able to get to a point where they could make saturday night drivel, prefer them to Ant and Dec who have got f all talent, just brass neck and bullsh*t.

You make a fair point. I'm sure they were good in the clubs and probably had an adult act that they could pull out.
When they won Opportunity Knocks, they were clearly deserving even doing the daft stuff.
I think Saturday night TV kills everything it touches.

I once woke up in the morning, pulled back the curtains of my bedroom window and was greeted by.....Sid Little swinging outside said window on a crane dressed in a Tarzan outfit.

And Eddie Large was standing over the other side of the road in a commissionaire uniform.

True story. It can be a funny old world that can serve up what one is least expecting.

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

As a kid during the seventies i remember Rodger de Corcey and nookie the Palace supporting bear who were very popular with my age group.I have been told that when appering on stage and clubs that the show was aimed at adults with lots of blue jokes and Nookie doing the bos eyed routine when oggerling the ladies in the audience.Feel a bit sad for Lennie henry as i used to think he was very funny but know he comes accross as the Bono of comedy

Before PC Henry was funny and fun....but now you get more consistent laughs from David Lammy.

According to my mate, Eddie Large lived next door to him in Portishead.

When he says next door he probably means he saw him once in the town.
