Fully agree with your sentiment but the burden is on the employers, and as much as we may want to see players as part of the club they really are employees. Yes, on what many of us may find obscure wages, though it is hard to blame them for taking them. There still will be a contractual obligation to pay contracted wages and players may do their part in charitable work to their own liking but I can not see them as a group agreeing to take a massive slice to support the club. As much as this out of the club's control, they stil, are the one carrying the risk.

Well with zero earnings and players still being paid I can only see disaster looming for many if not most clubs. The crisis now looks like it could still be with us into 2021.

Players wages (see what Man Utd are doing) are beyond crazy. For someone to believe being on £20k a week is hardship just demonstrates their lack of sense of perspective.

One thing is for sure there's now way the Government will step in.

Won't the government be paying 80% of wages?!

It would be nice if others follow the lead of some of the biggest clubs in Germany. Players have agreed 20% wage cuts, which although I think is not enough, it's a start and fairplay to them for being the first to do so.

Yes but it needs to come from the players via the Players Union. It should not be imposed on them.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Some clubs have furloughed non playing staff, but I hope Palace don’t take this route. We have players that are on huge contracts and some that hardly play are are on huge contracts, such is the absurdity of Premier League football.

We need to get this right for the good of the club and everyone associated with the club.

Yep 100%. You'd hope there'd have been a few players already coming forward to agree something along these lines. But they've gone very quiet. Funny how easy they find it to send out disruptive tweets when a new contract is wanted etc.

The only person of note in the premier league that I've read about to take a cut is Eddie Howe.

Graham Potter has also taken a voluntary pay cut. There might be other managers who have taken similar action but is unknown to the media hence hasn't been reported.

Ah I hadn't seen that. Hopefully there'll be a snowball effect and not only a gesture made by relegation threatened managers!

I think the fair thing to do is for the club to ask all employees who earn over a set amount perhaps £100-150k pa to take a pay cut of 20% for the duration.

If I was a player I would be concerned that I take a hit whilst directors and senior club officials don't. It has to fall on the high earners which are largely but not exclusively the players.

If you're being serious, I think there'd be out rage if government paid players over a million a year.

The club and players should agree a cut something like a ceiling of £500K pa for everyone.

No cuts for the plebs earning normal money.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

There is a maximum government payout of £2,500 per month so i very much doubt whether any player would want to be furloughed
