And vegetarians could be equally adversely affected as UK farmers are complaining that without the huge number of seasonal workers that they need most of this year's food crop may go to waste

Indeed. Saw there’s a plane of 450 arriving from Romania tomorrow to help with fruit picking.

Here's the story. You'd think they'd all be tested and practise social distancing too.

Loads of people in manual jobs, especially food and supermarkets aren’t practicing social distancing.

what! I hope they have to apply for visas first, work permits aren't enough, their whereabouts will need to be monitored with smart technology and they should be charged VAT or taxed for two incomes if they try to sell lucky heather. We need to import Romanian fruit pickers - we have such a high skilled economy you see, there's nobody here who could do that job ... wtf

evidence that the dole is too generous.

These Romanians are willing to suffer awful conditions and work their guts out. Bravo for them,

boo hoo to the longterm unemployed gougers who sit about drunk all their lives.

This is an important and necessary job for the country so you 'patriots' should be stepping up and filling the labour shortages.

It is an important job but I and many Brexiteers never said we shouldn't have immigration just that it should be controlled. It does beg the question with all the unemployed why aren't they doing the job instead of sitting on their backside but that's for another day.

The key thing is that people coming to this country have a job offer rather than just turn up on spec.

Good luck to these Romanians I hope they work hard and make good money.

It'll be no more than 50-100 a day for very hard work. And one for Danh is yes, I did used to do it. Nothing better than a hard summer's work to make you tough. Not like all the pansies these days, eh Dan.
