Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

He was a hell of a musician and anyone at Battersea Park in 1978 will agree they, and their “dancers”, put on quite a show.

I saw them a few times when they were popular. Once at Maison Royale in Bournemouth (Jimmy Savile's Club)they were supported by The Skids & The Vibrators. Jeez those were the days. Masses of Amphetamine Sulphate & Booze

Seem them many times over the years. Great live band. In the mid 90s they sponsored the match against Forest. The guitarist who replaced High Cornwall was a Notts fan. Don't know if any of the rest of the band were, bearing in mind they were from Guildford.

Absolutely gutted about this. They have been my favourite band since I was 10 in 1977.
Would have in the past tried to organise trips over to Palace matches to tie in with Stranglers gigs.

Can't find any tributes from fellow (non-Stranglers) musicians. Would that have something to do with their first two liberal-baiting albums?

Jet Black still going (he was born in 1938!).
