Another expert on body language, just like Wissie.

Excuse me? When have I ever reached conclusions based on someone's body language? I am no expert. However, sweating profusely and looking uncomfortable under questioning can be supporting evidence.

I draw my conclusions on what people say and what they do, not on how they look doing it.

Firstly, I didn't describe you as a "foot soldier". I merely used an analogy. I have no idea what rank you rose to.

Secondly, you have now modified your assertion to the majority, which although extremely unlikely also allows the possibility that 49% are competent.

In my experience most senior managers in any business can transfer their skills to another related, but not identical one. What's required is a grasp of man-management, resource allocation, time scales and budgetary control etc etc. The detail is delegated to the specialists who work for you. Routinely changing such people keeps the departments fresh and from complacency setting in.

That’s one view. Personally I found a frequently changing stream of senior managers extremely detrimental. Any reservations about their often daft ideas was dismissed as “being negative”. The fact that a lot of their ideas had been previously found to fail was ignored.
There are too many people in senior positions who see successive jobs as stepping stones and are only interested in change for changes sake as a notch on their cv. The mess they left behind when they moved on was just grist to mill of the next innovator. This process was repeated for years.

I didn't think he'd go before and that just now has sealed the deal.

The man did the best thing for his child.

I would have done exactly the same.

The media over Cummings shouldn't be able to just shrug off their behaviour.

They have presented hearsay as factual evidence. They have written headlines, which they know most readers don't read beyond....they have written headlines that present unproven claims as statements.

Dirty dirty smear merchants and their reputation is richly deserved.

Less the forth estate and more a grubby, unkempt and smelly bungalow.

Hearsay? Once exposed he admitted it.

I have been out all day. I haven't seen or heard the Cummings statement and questioning, nor read any news reports about it. Yet. I have though skimmed through the last few pages of this thread and got the drift.

What I did hear today was one of the "SAGE" government experts on the radio. I didn't catch his name but he is a behavioural scientist whose job it is to advise how we will respond to rules and requests.

It was his view that Cummings has made it much more difficult for the next stage of the lockdown release to proceed as planned. Getting people to now follow the rules is likely to be very much more difficult.

He was fuming and said that the probable outcome of Cummings not being sacked over this was that more people would now die.

That is a very serious accusation which, in my opinion, is going to become the big news in the coming days. That simply cannot be allowed to happen.

If sacking Cummings saves just one life then it needs to be done, whether you have any sympathy for him or not. If Johnson fails to do that then that accusation will not go away until he does. The pressure will just continue to mount from both within the Tory ranks, the opposition and the press. It will divert attention and break the consensus.

It's a no brainer. He has to go. Toughing it out cannot be an option if lives are on the line.

Some people sit at the back in meetings.
He may be nervous about knowing it may as well be the labour party questioning him. I can imagine you are good at meetings and fair play. I dont mind asking questions and sometimes the answers help others who are somewhat afraid to ask them. It's people. We are all different.

So the advice on distancing and cleaning has changed then. What a cop out from someone who doesnt like Cummins. If people want to kill themselves ,friends and families then good riddance to stupid, self serving, ignorant, excuses for our population. They know the rules about lockdown and they are totally different to the advice on avoiding covid. This is another way for the leftys to have a pop at boris. Try again in four years you losers.

Just because someone may not like Cummins, doesn't necessarily make them a lefty.

Are you really missing the point?

The rules have changed since Cummings made his trip but that's not the point.

The point is that by allowing him to break the rules by finding all kinds of excuses and exceptions will impact on how others behave.

Whether they should, or not, is another matter. Cummings ought not to have done so but he did, and so will others as a consequence of his example and Johnson condoning it.

If the suggestion is that this will lead to more deaths than by taking a firm line with Cummings (whether you believe that firm line is justified or not) then firm line it has to be.

I wasn't talking about anyone in particular. Especially Cummings whose interview I haven't seen. I was responding to an assertion made without evidence.
