Thinking further afield when will the next season start ? With the Euro's being bounced for a year and the Qatar furnace show due to be played in Nov 2022 somewhere space needs to be provided. Surely the Carabao Cup has bitten the dust at the least ? COYP !!

I would say after a short transfer window next season should start asap . That would lead into the euros next summer .
The African nations is now due to be played in Jan 22 ,as you say the World cup in Nov and all the qualifiers before hand . A lot will depend on the virus and travel restrictions , lets hope all gets back to normal soon .

The carabao cup is of little interest to anyone but reserves who might get a game . Even lower league clubs are now resting players and has really become a waste of time , money and for those who remember the League Cup from which it was born expectation

And we still need a striker

Agree, let’s sack off the Carabao cup. It really is totally pointless.

For next season just play cup matches 24 hours before or after a league game, let the clubs decide whether to field the strongest team for the league, cup or split their resources. They could even use players in both games if they really wanted to, but probably best to recommend against it.

You forgot to mention the obscure rule that states,

"Each team will appoint a representative, and each representative will in turn pick a player from the 22 in the line-up.This selection will be arranged using the paper, scissors, stone system.

Somebody mentioned on another thread that it was a good opportunity for us to pick up points and possibly even a European place as other clubs may not be up for it. I think I am being pessimistic but I suspect they are saying the same about us.

We have nothing to play for and the bottom six should fight for their lives, if they don't they don't deserve to be in this division.

So I am expecting our season and those in a similar position to fizzle out.

We have still not reached that magic "40 points", besides with prize money increasing the higher the position in the table, the club will not be best pleased if we plummet down the table.

Apropos the resumption of the football season, there could well be some surprise results in store on account of the circumstances.
I note that in the Bundesliga there have only been 5 Home wins in the 27 games played thus far.

I've lost track...are we playing home games behind locked doors at Selhurst or did the neutral venue thing get adopted? If we're playing at Selhurst, I wonder if the HF could approach the club about putting their collection of banners on display. I think I heard some time back that they keep most of the banners. Just thinking that a mass of colour wouldn't go amiss in a quite stadium...

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

It’s going to be fascinating really, I think there’s going to be some strange results. Obviously there’s going to be some players more up for it than others. The German stats show there’s a definite drop in physicality, more set piece goals as well. So who will this benefit if we go a similar way?

The powers that be are telling us that this restart is something to celebrate. You can no longer participate but look what's coming up! It's electric! The 17th of June is only a couple of weeks away. Isn't it exciting?

Fellow Palace fans, I implore you. Don't get complacent.

Now we're supposed to get a buzz from sitting on our arses indoors while they pipe the artificial spectacle into our living rooms for free.

Do you really think The HF's banners are going to generate the atmosphere we've all grown accustomed to?

But if you're happy to watch a half-contact training session on TV and tell your brain that it's just like being at a packed to the rafters Selhurst Park, then all I can say is Enjoy your remaining time on the planet. You are sleepwalking through life.
