I took it from the original source, not the one to which you link. Got a problem with it?

What difference would that make?

These are not your words. Yet you reproduced them with no link or recognition whatsoever......if it had been a sentence or two, then perhaps no bother.

But as it is, to me, it's just more evidence of your disingenuous nature.

You cannot erase history. History is constantly reinterpreted as it should be. It is wrong to celebrate such people. It wasn’t e.g. a war, simply paying people to enslave others and then shipping them in inhuman conditions such that many die.

Or perhaps we really shouldn’t let stuff like that bother us. How do you feel about modern slavery?

Initially enslaved by black traders don’t forget. Do you have any clothes made in Bangladesh?

Hey, is Africa built on slavery because they didn't stop?

Many people forget that a Brit was the person most responsible for the abolition of slavery, that makes me proud to be British

Yep, has connections to Wisbech as well....Wilberforce, though obviously there were other leaders but he's the most important.

I lived within sight of his statue for about five years.

You are just sore because of your faux pas earlier. And maybe from drinking too much on Sunday, you naughty naughty boy.

In the 14th century Mali was larger than Western Europe. It was reputed to be one of the biggest, richest and most powerful state in the world at that time. Ghana was also in its own right massively powerful and rich. And then you had Songhay including its famous University established in the 14th century. And within Africa there was Kemet, with its fantastic architecture and engineering. Do you really think the Magna Carta is that far superior?

So should I withdraw my request to Leeds General Infirmary to remove the statue of Jimmy Savile holding a little girl's hand then?

I thought they took that statue down, outrageous if they haven’t. Am I right in thinking they removed his headstone?

Nice Python reference.

Nope, just pushing back against this inaccurate and contentious anti western/anti white narrative.

Except it is neither

I read elsewhere the Arabs took as many slaves as the Europeans, can't find that book for now.

You must have heard of Mansa Musa. In the words of the BBC:

With an estimated fortune of $131bn (£99bn) the title of wealthiest man in modern history is believed to belong to Mansa Musa, the 14th Century West African ruler who was so rich his generous handouts wrecked an entire country's economy.

This is an absurd attempt to claim civilisational equality between Europe and Africa at this time.

I'll state again.....where are the standing cities in central and southern Africa with comparable technologies to Europeans of that time.....demonstrate what you say?

Where is the evidence of comparable towns, roads and all the rest of it? Where are the written records from this before the Europeans? Where are the technologies?

I'll state again, the wheel wasn't in use when the Europeans turned up and for you to make these claims of equality is a fantasy.

As for Egypt.

I have already stated that North Africa was a little more developed and the ancient Egyptians are a monument to the world. However, they were still significantly behind when the Europeans turned up and to suggest that Egypt are genetically or culturally the same as central and southern Africa isn't going to win you many fans in Egypt itself.

Hi Maple Not sure if you noticed the following wasn't his original response "Nice Python reference.

Nope, just pushing back against this inaccurate and contentious anti western/anti white narrative."

the original went something along the lines of 'that's ridiculous where is the written evindence of this blah blah blah

I suspect he is giving himself time to research something he is completely ignorant of.
