Shoot a few of their boats and let some drown. They would soon stop coming then.

This will seem hard but in honesty, it’s the only language these people will understand, otherwise there will never be an end to it.

really???

Possibly. The point is that if somebody is that desperate to reach the UK, and makes all that effort to leave the most wonderful and vibrant of all EU nations, then perhaps we need to look at their qualities and wonder if they would make for good potential citzens.

Always struggled with this idea that 'political refugees' were somehow more deserving than the economic ones. The politicals are usually just trouble makers. Where as the economic ones are here because they want a better standard of living.

If they make it here, then give them a NI number, warn them that if they so much as fart in public over the next 5 years they get deported immediately then let them crack on with it. Those are the people we want here.

Pretty much agree with most of that. Even in the USA those deemed or actively claiming they are 'Political refugees' are the first ones to put the boot into the Country which gave them sanctuary in the first place. If someone has slipped over the border & has been working in a restaurant scraping carrots & peeling spuds seven days a week? I know which one I'd prefer to give sanctuary to.

I’m troubled by some of the statements made on this thread.

I see the whole issue with regret. Regret that people, that’s what they are, feel the need to/ are compelled to move heaven and earth to get to our country. That they don’t feel safe in any of the countries in between, and that there is clearly an industry developed in moving them around the earth. There are rules governing refugees, and there status. These are to protect people who through no fault of there own find themselves in this position. All MUST be treated as refugees until proven otherwise. Our treatment of refugees, is one of the actions that puts the Great in Britain.

Ask yourselves what are you afraid of? What damage do these people do to you? Everyone of them is a better lesson of the world than the papers we read. Has anyone actually spoken to a refugee? I know two Somali refugees and both have great jobs and our a benefit to my industry, that is an international one. It makes money for the country.

Undoubtedly people are opportunistically using refugee status to gain access to the U.K. and use a vail of ignorance to avoid repatriation. It’s a big risk, and again they have to move heaven and earth to get into this position. This is a problem, but is it any worse than those actively avoiding taxes and fiddling the benefits system? Is it any worse than buying government favour to push your own agenda ahead of the benefit of the citizens.

I expect most of you appose free meals for school children. Appose positive discrimination, and actively detest the questioning of the damage imperialism has played on every part of the world the empire touched.

If your thinking is for our country to take every advantage over others in order to raise our own living standards, then what makes you think we can’t achieve that by being cooperative, engaged, sympathetic, and connected to the rest of the world?

I wished you lot would be as upset by what is going on today in our back garden, rather than this old s***. Has any of this changed in 20 years?

This stuff helps me to realise my club is supported by some really small minded idiots.

Final question, if you lot are all here fighting it out keyboard warrior style. Who is protecting the statues??

Border Force do not house them as such. They are referred to a unit that arrange accommodation for them. It is not a detention centre they are given accommodation in the big wide world so basically the taxpayer finances it. If they have family already here they should stay with them, however many refuse and demand their own houses, which more often than not they get. This is not BF fault, blame the looney left, PC and Human Rights brigade.

I don’t even why I am bothering to reply to someone who has decided to move to the other side of the world but I will just reiterate that, after 40 years working in Immigration, the vast majority are not refugees they are economic migrants. Most arrive with no documents so we do not know who they are. Trying to protect the future of my kids makes me small minded does it? Fine why did you leave? You coming back anytime soon? How do Australia deal with arriving refugees? A lot tougher than we do, obviously that didn’t stop you going! Out protesting are you?
Please don’t try and make out my views make me some sort of racist, as you know nothing about me.

And therein lies the problem. Someone arrives in this country illegally and it seems to me it is up to the authorities to prove that this person is wicked or not who they say they are or not here for the reason they claim. It should be the other way round they should have to provide proof of who they are and why they came. The reason why many migrants risk their life crossing the channel is simple the French make it difficult to claim asylum we don't.

I would prefer to stop all these young men coming and make it really hard so they don't bother. However I would have a more humanitarian approach by taking so many from refugee camps around the world which would be more balanced e.g. women and children not just young men of military age.

And the racist U.K. have taken many from genuine refugee camps around the world.
My wife worked for the Australian HC when we lived abroad, dealing with asylum applications. They are a lot stricter than us. Anyone remember how they dealt with the Vietnamese boat people?

Exactly the people who make a home run are young fit and have some money in order to travel and live. That doesn't mean though they are the most deserving those folk may well be sitting in a refugee camp.
