Not sure about that ! But I don't understand any Palace fan that doesn't appreciate what he has given to Palace. Without him (and arguably Glen Murrays goals) we would still be struggling in the championship or worse. Grumbling in our half empty crumbling Selhurst that we cant string 3 passes together.

Long ball from the keeper, knock-down, shot on goal.

Why would we even need three passes? The rest are just an affectation.

Wilf is presently our best attacking outlet by a long way. In fact probably our only one beyond Ayew. If he had played fully on Weds night surely somebody would of got a touch, however brief in Pools pen area ? As a result if he leaves we will have a hole to fill, in an area which we have struggled with for seasons. How big the hole will be is difficult to assess as we will need to see the replacement that the team will definitely need.

Zaha is brilliant but is not over the ball when he shoots, if you are leaning back marginally you will probably sky it.

I really don't see why a player of his calibre cannot correct this, he has had years.

There was a resignation in the commentary team at Bournemouth when he skied it under no pressure, a 'no end product' moment.

He said he would make it to 11 goals, that's not much and its a worry with Benteke losing the plot entirely as well.

Nobody is perfect I guess.

I don't think PVA would get even half the stats going forward without Zaha in the side on the left.

Take his Bournemouth assist for Ayew's goal. He's got in round the back because Bournemouth's entire right side is watching Zaha.

We look properly flat without Zaha, but then I guess we don't have his 'replacement in the side'.

Accepting he is likely to go, if we got good money that allowed us to get McNeil and one other in (Fraser or Benhrama would be dreamland), I'd bite your hand off.

One of the few things I admired about Rooney. He always shot with his head over the ball and was rarely off target. It amazes me that so few pros adhere to this basic rule.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

I started this post back in June. Very frustrated with Zaha. However, it is only fair to give credit where credit is due! What a pre-season and start to this season he is having.
Maybe someone has explained that the only way to get what he wants is to play well. Maybe it has just dawned on him.
As long as we benefit from it - excellent.
I think though that Roy should be applauded by the way he has handled Zaha. There isn’t a better man-manager in the league. Giving Zaha the captaincy yesterday - masterstroke.
And - the whole team are doing well too - not just a 1 man team!

Wilf in every game i have seen him play has tried his best on that day for the team. Wilf would love to annd win things who blame him. If some team pays what are owner thinks is a fair price then Wilf can leave with my heart felt thanks and blessing. Wilf continues to work hard as part of out team.

I don’t have a great deal of sympathy for this, “I want to win something “ mentality. At the end of a career, staring at a trophy or two in the cupboard having played a bit part for a major team, compared with enjoying the adoration of fans and playing every single game for his home club might not be looked back on as a great measure of success.

If he goes to Liverpool or PSG he wouldn’t necessarily start for them, he would have to uproot his family and because he is a tad temperamental you could see it unravelling for him pretty quickly.

The choice to stay at Palace, be the clubs top earner, be loved by the fans and be guaranteed a starting spot every game has to be attractive to someone who loves to play football. I just cannot see him ever being happy sat on a bench somewhere.

My view on this is this - WZ is still a relatively young man, he is in the midst of his professional career as a footballer & as we all know ( at least the older ones of us do) the years go past pretty fast -
I am sure Wilf will want to be in a position whereby ( when he hangs up his boots) he can say to his kids & probably his grand kids that he gave it his best shot, he played for some great teams, he won a few trophies & in some parts of the world he will always be fondly remembered, there is absolutely nothing wrong in that.
Now - as of the position today - he is worth a lot to Palace, he is loved as a part of the club in most quarters & unless someone comes in with a serious bid of decent proportions he will remain a Palace player - I personally really enjoyed seeing him mature a bit yesterday as the team captain for the day & I think it did him the world of good, I would hope its something that continues, but if someone comes in for him because of the good work that he has done with us ( at a price that we as a club can agree to) then its good luck to him & off he will go.
