Not starting an oh how I miss Jules etc.
I am just wondering if anyone knows what he is doing since having left Palace?

I was speaking to a female Palace fan who is very friendly with the Speroni family. Jules was very upset as to how he was treated by the club, apparently Roy had told him he would get another years contract but Dougie would be sitting it. Dougie told him he was not wanted. He has not returned to the club who offered him a ambassador role.
He had a few offers from lower league clubs but did not take them up. Plays a lot of tennis

Tbh we can’t afford to have Guaita, Hennessey AND Speroni on a full wage.

Years ago I know Speroni saw Palace as a job for life and was looking at being a keeper coach.

I heard some while ago that Speroni had been doing some coaching at 'South Park' FC who ply their trade in the 'BetVictor' League.

I know I'd feel far more confident knowing Jules was covering VG's absence than Hennessey, shame if true his loyalty was treated poorly at the end.

I agree but apparently Roy wanted him for another year. Club treated him pretty poorly but I suppose no room for sentiments in the modern game

You can only take sentiment so far. You certainly can't be handing out token roles for long serving players simply because of past loyalty.

However, you'd like to think that he was treated with respect at the end. Perhaps he had been led to believe that he might get a further contract be it as a player or in some other capacity. In which case you could understand him being miffed.

Although the fans will remember him with great affection, I do know from experience that within any organisation, however good and loyal you have been, you are quickly replaced and, to some extent forgotten, once you have gone.

Given both his popularity and experience, you would have thought Steve Parish might have found him some meaningful role at the club.

Probably being offered an ambassadorship - ie bowing and scraping to VIPs - was a bit of an insult.

Perhaps he could do some scouting in Argentina for the next Lionel Messi.

I suspect Dougie can be pretty ruthless. I think he might have upset a few people along the way.

Your last paragraph is so much nearer the truth than you would know
