Given our remaining games, I believe that 9 or 10 points is wishful thinking.

Cloud-cuckoo land if we carry on playing as we have in the last two games (Yes I know Liverpool were brilliant against us but we let them play and folded as soon as Wilf went off). We might get 5 points if we are lucky 3 off Villa and a couple of lucky draws.

The only player going forward with any intent was the cameo performance from Meyer. Unfortunately, as is usually the case, no-one else was quick-thinking enough to be on the same wavelength. And Yes, after the Liverpool game, I did say we should get rid of him. He has some talent but he simply doesn't fit our current style of play unless he is given the freedom to buzz betweeen the lines.

Awful performance from all last night. From our highly-lauded (by people on here) error-ridden keeper to a totally ineffective front 3. This was against a Burnley side who fielded their only 11 fit players and were there for the taking. Yet as usual under Roy we just sit back and pass the ball sideways. There's never any urgency until the last 5 minutes when we decide to try and score. It's the same formation and tactics regardless of opposition with no Plan B (barely a Plan A to be honest). Home games in particular under RH have been the most dull in living memory. Surely we can do better than him?

What was particularly annoying was having the TV pick out Mitchell saying that the club rate him very highly - yet he's 20! Most clubs would have been playing a highly-rated youngster for 2 years by now. Why on earth are we never giving youngsters a chance - they can't do worse than lose. This is why that 16 year old is leaving us rather than sign a deal. Last night was our second oldest-ever team and it looked it.

Another thought. If Benteke isn't going to be fit, then get back Wickham as his loan finished on Sunday,

Which is exactly what he should be given.

Style is a strong word to discribe our tactics. The way the team is set up is wrong, not the players.

Just listened to Roy's interview on BBC. It's just a barage of cliches.

Realistically we expect to win 3 points over the remainder of the season. That will mean this mid-table finish many of you are hyping up will not happen.

There will be those who will assert that we are 6 pts better off than at the same juncture as last season and certainly won't go down so at the end of the season "Mission accomplished".

Last night was pretty poor but I don't think Burnley were great. We allowed them to keep hold of the ball but they didn't give us too many issues from open play.

Zaha didn't look fit enough to be on the pitch and Townsend just doesn't seem up to any sort of standard at the moment. The big issue is they have been our only two wingers for about 2 years, which isn't good enough and I am sick of us having zero options off of the bench.

We are missing Schlupp who carries the ball and pushes the team forward, as does Kouyate at times. There was no height, creativity or power in the midfield and it was a game that would have likely been won by a mistake or a set piece, which proved true.

VG made a howler, he knew it, we move on. He's made a few and although he is a great keeper, these mistakes are probably why he plays for Crystal Palace.

Our best player was 32 year old James McArthur, who usually last about 65-70 mins a game and he completed the 90.

We still have Leicester, Man Utd, Chelsea, Wolves & Spurs to play - looks like a fairly solemn end to our season.

Please give the kids a run out !

Those who want to see Meyer play ‘in between the lines’,
are going to be disappointed.
Hodgson uses him either on the right or left of a nominal front three, a role to which he is patently unsuited.
Hodgson always chooses his midfield three from Mcarthur, Luka, Kouyate and Mcarthy.
If there were injuries then Riedewald would be the next option.
Essentially team shape is everything to Hodgson and while he is in charge it has to be very doubtful we will see a No 10 type player pulling the strings in midfield.
Let’s hope recruitment runs players past Hodgson in the summer because if they don’t fit the system/shape they won’t play however talented they may be.

I concur with these sentiments.
Tips hat.

My concern as is yours I guess is next season with this squad? It almost needs a complete overhaul as it’s the oldest first team squad in the prem. Burnley may be older, not sure. But anyway the 2 Mc’s, Milo and Kouyaté are the midfielders that Roy H chooses from first and they don’t have much of a clue playing over the half way line? We need either to play 2 of that 4 with Meyer as a creative midfielder or if he isn’t good enough get someone else in. Personally I think he is good enough but Roy H won’t change that defensive midfield - I also think Sakho needs to play alongside either Dann, Tompkins or Cahill as he can actually play out of defence. But that doesn’t look like happening either. And don’t get me started on Zaha and Townsend and how they don’t play as they once did - Grrrr!

A drop down the table costs £1.9 Mill a place at the end of the season.

But we will drop down anyway at this rate. Once Burnley scores we were always going to struggle so why not give them a run out. They are asking fans to support the academy but the manager isn’t even doing that

Bingo! He can pick a pass but desperately needs game time and not to be played out of position

Burnley were very well organised defensively, against the bigger teams we are coming up against we will play better because although they have better defenders they will concentrate much more up-field which in turn because of our own organisation at the back will enable us to play a better game attacking wise with much more space, we missed Benteke last night and at Liverpool because he does actually cause problems for defenders by holding up play he was I feel greatly improving as a player before the lockdown.
