As far as I know there is still a fitness test but it's not exactly hard work.. A low level of personal fitness would see you through it.. It's been watered down massively over the years. Obviously firearms and close protection officers are subjected to a far more stringent test which you do need a high level of fitness to pass..

It's weird as the tables have turned.. Many years ago the Met were the renowned force for violence and aggression but I would definitely say that for the last 10 years or so I've always found northern forces far more aggressive in their approach to Policing, especially public order and football policing.
