There is a lot of very valid and honest opinions being expressed as there are many ways to skin a cat so to speak.
The club has surely only one aim and that is to remain in the Premiership to finish as high as possible at the lowest outlay.
If you accept that premise, and I accept you might not, then you have to make a decision on the way forward from where we are now.
We have a squad of players capable of keeping us in the league but they are ageing and it needs updating. From the clubs point of view do you update with a new man at the helm or let the present management introduce the changes needed to overcome the ageing squad? . I would suggest due to the fact that the funds we have for updating the squad is not great then the safest option is to let the present management tweak the squad in such a way that younger players can be brought in to compliment the basic strengths of the squad.
There is not the funds available to bring in a new management with fresh ways of playing and with the certainty of keeping us in the league, it is too risky.
If we were to be taken over with excessive funds say like potentially Newcastle are then it is a different story.
If I was on the board of the club I would want to continue with Roy and use his experience to effect the changes with an eye on change in 12 months time. There is no doubt the club is at a crossroads if they get it wrong they could well end up losing their status irrespective of the manager. COYP

No one could disagree with this an entirely sensible approach, what we must correct is being stronger at home and our goal scoring record, hopefully we can do this by buying smartly 3/4 players and maybe 1 or 2 smart loan deals and hopefully that will do the job!

1. To Roy Hodgson

How can an experienced manager like you completely and utterly fail to motivate your team ?

2. Steve Parish

Are you not testing the fans' blind loyalty by, in effect, saying next season we MIGHT just stay up by again playing the manager's same negative style ?

Answer to 1. - he obviously can't and has no idea what to do.

Answer to 2: he is gambling that he does not have to step in come December with a new manager.

What was your reaction after we beat Bournemouth 2-0 our fourth successive win without any goals against I wonder ..our manager isn't responsible for individual stupid mistakes from silly defenders who should know and understand much better, we will probably beat Wolves and Spurs and give moan.U a good game, hopefully you'll be able to find all your toys.

I’ve no doubt the preparation of the system has been meticulous the last half dozen games. Unfortunately if it’s been figured out or no one is listening then what does it matter. You’ve simply practiced something that doesn’t work.

We mirror England under Roy. He came in, organised but the second anything more needs to happen and there is a massive gap.

Creativity in midfield is what we need, finding it at a price we can do is the problem then we just have to hope they don't become too good.

Nothing like a throw away insult to finish a paragraph. Totally unnecessary.

Your absolutely correct we do need a creative attacking midfielder, that may be Meyer if he is given the chance to have ago in these last three games!

It's definitely a teflon coated excuse.

Compare that to Southgates approach where everything is done to make sure the players are prepared tactically, mentally, and physically to go out to win. Players know what to do under any scenario, following the Woodward TCUP mantra.

I'm pretty sure the set peice routines and owning the moment ideas were circulated and mastered by players well before they trained together as a group.

Southgate has turned over every stone in the England set up to look for marginal gains were ever he can. All England teams are focused on getting the best senior team we can, and he's always looking to improve.

The Hodgson era of England management was dreadful. It was like the FA had just given up trying. Players just seem to not want to play.

Roy has a well prepared approach, but only under one scenario. Once that's found out, he's f***ed.

If you want to celebrate mediocrity and subject yourself to predictable choices, then all the fun is sucked out of life.

Players train hard, are well prepared and know their jobs, but sometimes due to a variety of reasons they just don't deliver when they cross that white line much to the frustration of the manager.

Nothing to do with putting the Prem's top striker on corner duty, thus making life easier for the opposition defenders I presume

That is exactly right just take Wilf and Benteke as examples!

Hmm, in Farke's three seasons they've hardly spent any money and their net spend is -50m.

They got promoted playing excellent football and didn't strengthen. They have made it clear they were expecting relegation this season. So I doubt it is all about their playing style.

Norwich are reportedly £35m in debt, so if their nett spend is -£50m. where has all the money gone. They were the first club to furlough staff, sure sign of problems.
