They should have FFP masks on to avoid this nonsense of people coming in wearing a pointless piece of cloth that can contaminate the place after touching that and the furniture. Or one of those face shields you wear on a minefield.

Everyone needs a full NBC suit and respirator. Plus a few sachets of Fuller's Earth.

Brilliant. Hilarious. Anyone still think customers will wear them after a shop worker not wearing one tells them to? Ha ha ha.

I would imagine many people on here have shared accommodation over the years but hardly in the same circumstances! These workers were exempt from testing on arrival and accommodated in less than ideal circumstances.
I am sure the army are testing on a regular basis so to use them as a comparison is rather amusing.
Still at least we know you are safe and well, as you had not posted for a while

I am pleased I amuse you

The military may be testing now, it appears they weren't doing enough in the past

My conscience is clear seeing as people who know they’re vulnerable stay ‘safe’ as people put it. And there are plenty of older people who’ve given up on social distancing and all this rubbish so don’t expect everyone to wear masks or even enforce them. They may do in supermarkets with the draconian bollox at the door and that’s about it. If you have someone in a shop that sells clothing items for £50-£100 an item minimum, they aren’t going to enforce this after a short time when whatever it takes makes them realise the customers spending means they have a job and they forget the power trip some of them may have, but apparently that’s Tesco, which was welcome in April I’ll admit, but not now.

Who’s they? I’ll find the research findings, if I can be bothered. I think it’s even on government websites. It was well documented months ago the pieces of cloth MIGHT only keep 18% of particles in. What’s the advised type of face covering they’re advising that keeps our these particles? What’s the material made of? Where is it sourced from? What were the controls on this experiment? It’s absurd.

You and others seem to have forgotten that this diseases hospitalises and kills mainly old people or people with serious health conditions, who know they have to isolate. But because they either haven’t or won’t isolate you are in the group of people who think we should ruin everyone and everything.

I agree on the hygiene, which is really the only worthwhile thing doing. Away from home I don’t touch my eyes, nose or mouth with my hands unless they’ve just been washed. But face cloths are pointless, and what happens when a cloth or scarf wearer barely protecting anyone else touches the token piece of cloth and then touches areas of the shop with his hands, including the card payment machine, which aren’t cleaned at the supermarket. Virtually nothing is apart from the token nonsense at the front door, which does serve one purpose, keeping the numbers inside low and the queues low, which is exactly what will happen with shops. It’ll kill off businesses. All for a virus people don’t know they have it’s so dangerous, the people we know who’re at risk but we somehow need to close everything down or discourage everyone from going to bring closure closer.

The denial about the damage this is doing would be hilarious if it wasn’t going to be so bad. I hope nobody on here has young adult offspring. Middle aged people could face redundancy as well.

Italian doctors are reporting that life term medical issues can arise from having C19.
Including in asymptomatic and mild cases, within any age or vulnerability group.
That being lung, renal, brain and all organs.
This bug is not overly deadly as a primary illness as proven with low death rates to infections.
Maybe as a secondary infection the little bugger has a hidden effect as yet not fully understood but appearing to be this. Be careful out there and the rules havent changed.

The only place that concerns me is public transport. FFP masks are perfect for that, but they don’t protect others, not that a cloth mask people don’t wear tightly does anyway. The people trying to justify this sound like children making stuff up or justifying it to themselves with barely any logic whatsoever.

My point was about the effect the bug can have on a person. Not whether masks work.

Possibly. But do I think a mask that’s taken on and off again and used day in day out is going to make much difference? No I don’t. All it is is a placebo for the too terrified to leave the house, with the looks and comments between them and those not wearing them. The twitter videos are going to be entertaining.

I have just seen a mask on the counter at reception, and given it a very wide berth indeed.

Is it new/old, or used infected/not infected, re-used re-cycled etc.

Why not touch it and find out, thank you so much.

And there are no guide-lines medical advice on their usage I can find.

If we were in WW2, we would be receiving instructions telling us what we should do re: masks.

'Careless masks cost lives'.

From the Ministry of Information:- 'How to use and maintain your mask'.

Nothing here though, basically we haven't got a clue about corona so stick a piece of cloth in front of our face.

The scale of the UK's incompetence, in just about every area, just beggars belief.

I’ve never seen so much sense from steeleye.

What is of real concern is all those old or vulnerable people who believe they’re protected with this new policy, even if it is adhered to, because there’s still a very high risk of infection and possibly death. Those who are prepared for the risk, fine. Unfortunately too many people think because the government has said it, it is so. The shielding should still shield as much as possible or even better, all of the time. Meanwhile there should be real and not pathetic efforts to revive the economy, jobs and livelihoods. What’s going on is unbelievable and I think many are in denial about how bad it’s going to be, or they work from home or in the public sector.
