Yes I do feel sorry for Dougie, it must be a tough job to have to put in a shift at the office all week and then have to go out and scout players whilst hardly getting paid for it.

Oh no wait, he gets paid handsomely to watch football and identify players who will benefit our club, full time, he has the ultimate gig.

If he cannot identify players who can be successfully attracted and brought into the club, within our budget and to suit the managers and teams style, he cannot do his job - it's a simple spec.

I agree with you but don't forget Parish and the board are also to blame as they seem to have no vision or will to invest in the team, all the Americans want is their investment back plus interest and then to walk away!

No absolutely, I could rant about them seperately!

I just don't buy the 'Dougie has faced obstacles' narrative. Every line of work had obstacles, it's your job to overcome them, if you don't you've failed!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

The only people saying that there's nothing to play for have been on here when slating Hodgson for not playing youngsters.

blaming 'nothing to play for' is absolutely pathetic. This is competitive sport ffs. If that really were the case then it smacks of the unambitious 'our objective is to stay up each season' approach, that has lowered the players' individual and collective standards. If that's the bar that is set then that is all they will aim for. Another reason why we need a new manager who will aim higher than bare minimum.

I think you've misunderstood.

At no time has the manager said that there is nothing to play for - quite the opposite.

My point was that people were criticising Hodgson in these end of season games for not playing youngsters as there was, in their eyes, nothing to play for.

To-date, I have heard nothing to suggest that Hodgson will not start the season as our manager, in fact quite the opposite.

Why make this single sentence post if you are not going to expand upon it when asked about it?!

What details are you referring to that are ‘quite the opposite’ and who have you heard the information from?

With the greatest of respect, I am of the opinion that my comments regarding the tenureship of Hodgson are self-explanatory and do not require any detailed explanation.

Not at all. You said you had heard information ‘quite the opposite‘ to any suggestion that Hodgson won’t be our manager at the start of next season. You clearly imply that you have been told something by somebody but I am at a loss to see how what you say you have been told is self explanatory.

All you said in your post was that you had heard quite the opposite but now you won’t say what or who told you. This is quite some statement in our teams current circumstances and deserves further explanation.

Zaha and Ayew were excessively and successively fouled every single time they ventured forward and into troubled areas, almost every time Ayew had the ball he ended up on his arse, he has the same treatment at every away game, I remember at Liverpool on three occasions where he was running into good positions and bang that was that ..the ref just played on.

I get the impression you're not keen on Willo.

I think it is more to do with the hints that he has some inside information but is never forthcoming with the full content.

We all have our own individual view on proceedings and Willo does have his way of writing that can upset some people, I find him informative and very fair when discussing issues ..the referee one stands out for me because ultimately he was correct and at no time did he ever become abusive which must have been hard for him at times considering the stick he received, he is a pleasant chap I find.

Thank you very much for your kind and generous sentiments.

I certainly don't seek to upset anyone or cause any offence on HOL and I try and be as informative as I can.
I certainly don't view myself as some panjandrum or worthy of any place on the pantheon of greats.Far from it - I bow to those on HOL who make far more worthy and insightful contributions than I do.
