You also have to look at the jobs created for the promoted sides. The Lord giveth, the Lord taketh away.

Indeed

Relegation often results in staff behind the scenes losing their jobs so whilst supporters in general relish local rivals and teams they despise slipping through the relegation trapdoor one should spare a thought for those who pay the price and are financially impacted by the plight of their respective teams.

Also, hate to say it, but if one accepts a job with a professional football team, one expects job security to be linked to on field success / failure from the get go.

Kinda goes with the territory.

Thought Deeney came across very well in the post match interview, to my surprise.

Going back to 2013. On paper, they should have gone up. When it came down to it, our players wanted it more. Even though I dont like him, they are lucky to have a player like him with his heart and soul committed to the club and the community.

We need to make sure we have a spine of good players committed to the team, and not sign any more aging journeymen.

Gloating is a bit cringeworthy though.

Their tactic of kicking Zaha in turns worked, because we offered no alternative threat. We should really look what we can do better rather than bitch and moan about a little bit of naughtiness.

Well said. All the teams do it when they play a team that relies on one or two players. It's no coincidence that Wilf and Grealish top the chart of most-fouled players (with Ayew not far behind)

What happens if Roy makes a move for Capoue, we know he likes a tough tackling midfielder?

No coincidence that the players fouled the most all hold the ball far to long. It is alright if there is something at the end of it, otherwise just slows up the movement of the ball and lets the defence regroup.

Disappointing lack of stats in this post, Statto. You could have spruced up this ditty with some actual figures around the financial impacts.

I for one am utterly delighted that Ettiene Capoue is getting relegated. His tackle on Zaha down the back of the calf was borderline GBH. That thug belongs in the lower leagues (cue Freedman signing him to warm our bench). They admitted rotational fouling on Wilf. They are scum.

Also Troy Deeney is one of the biggest c***s in football.

Good riddance, cheaters and thugs.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

The point I was making is that I don't gloat at the relegation of a team because of the impact on those behind the scenes. Same for teams that enter Administration.

With respect I don't need to trawl for specifics in terms of financial impacts on teams that are relegated.

My underlying message is that there are clearly financial consequences which could mean reductions of headcounts for those behind the scenes.
I am merely looking at relegation from a different angle reflecting on the non-playing staff as opposed to the players themselves.
