I've answered it several times Neillo. You are just ignoring it.

Communication between the Chairman and Manager should be clear, and so should the stratergy.

A "tiny" difference is could also be described as insignificant. Which is what it was. It wasn't even in the right direction, it just slowed down the decline Losing wouldn't have made a bit of difference. Drawing will possibly drag out the saga of Roy Hodgson's very slowly killing the club.

The players know the only reason we got a draw yesterday was because Spurs let the game fizzle out. Had they needed to win, it would have been a different story.

I see you and Roy might both have very risk adverse personalities, at some point you have to take risks. Sport is about taking risks and trying to win. The best time to take risks is when there is nothing to lose, we didn't take this oportunity and we are now worse off because of it.

The time to start changing things wasn't after the Bournmouth game, thats a disingenous comment. The time to change them was after the Burnley game when we knew we had a tough run of fixtures.

Ok, back to my question. What do you think Parish would have said to Hodgson if Hodgson said '' Steve, I'm going to experiment in the last 8 games and treat them as friendlies '' - which was your suggestion. Just enlighten me please...what do you think Parish would have said ??

You are very wrong about the assumption that I am risk adverse. I would describe my decision making as ' pragmatic '. I would not have been very successful in my career if I had been risk adverse.

I didn't suggest changing anything after the Bournemouth game, instead I tried to explain to you why things didn't.

Although of course they could have done if we had followed your idea of treating them as friendlies

Newcastle from a set peice, relegated Watford and Bournmouth (opening goal from a set peice) and Brighton (against the run of play and who had the were the only team on a worse run of form than us when we played them). Coming of the back of 3 defeats in a row.

We are pretty much incapable of scoring from open play. Our corners and indirect free kicks are useless.

So let me get this right...you moan about the manager, the style of play, the team selections and now you're moaning about how we won games.

Is there anything about Palace that you do like ?

I can’t disagree with the sentiments either which are reasonably expressed.
And yet I would still a prefer if a change was made.
I can’t prove it obviously, but am convinced that we could have achieved a similar position in the table by playing in a slightly more adventurous style.
Moving forward I also have a concern about Hodgson working with the young players we are hoping to recruit.
The club has to look forward beyond Hodgson even if he stays this season.

Jesus Neillo, you and Roy have so much in common.

You keep on asking the same question and expect a different answer.

Parish should have asked what the long term benefits of experimenting are. Woy should have realised that his stratergy has not worked this season and he needed to find something new. Those 8 (in fairness 6) last games could have been used to do just that.

Instead, Woy decided do just do the same thing again and again.... and it failed.

I don't know what is so difficult to get your head round?

Patrick, this is the problem.

I have defended Roy ( as you may be aware ! ) in instances where I felt he was being unfairly criticised.

The squad overhaul which is needed cannot be achieved in one transfer window. The manager is only on a 12 month deal. It hardly smacks of a long term vision for the club.

You don't seem to get anything right? I was saying that we had 4 unconvincing wins against very poor opposition including two sides that are now in the Championship.

Roy has been increadably lucky to get anything out of this season. Our points total flatters us.

Roy wants us to go into next season, sign more aginging players and keep using the same system. It's the wrong stratergy, it will get us religated, and lumbered with journeymen plays with no sell on value.

I'll keep asking the same question until you answer it properly. That seems beyond you though, so instead let's try to make it easier for you.

Are you are trying to get me to believe that the Chairman and part owner of a Premier League football club would sanction his manager treating the last 6/7/8 games of a season as friendlies ? Are you for real ??

By the way, his strategy up until and even after the Burnley game could not be described as not working given our points total and league position in that time.

I noticed you resorted to the cheap '' Woy '' insult.

Shameful

I don't get anything right ? Coming from you that's rich - and I have to say did make me laugh so thank you at least for that.

Let's now move on to your pearls of wisdom.

Even Troy Deeney yesterday, in the depths of his relegation anguish, said that you end up where you deserve to be over the course of a season. Palace finished where they deserved to be. Does it really matter who we beat to accumulate those points ??

As you seem to be 'in the know ', who are the other ageing players that Roy wants to sign ?

Now you question Hodgson's strategy that you say will get us '' religated ''. Well, it hasn't in the last three seasons although I accept that we do need an influx of new players to replace some of the dead wood.

Quite why I'm engaging in a protracted conversation with someone that suggests using league games ( which also impact other clubs by the way ) as friendlies and bringing on a novice central defender and moving Scott Dann to centre forward, I don't know. I'm putting it down to a morbid fascination with your stupidity but I'm sure you have other ideas !

I guess you're losing time Neill...

In the meantime, I just saw something that made me smile...
A guy on Twitter (and retweeted by HOL) just updated the table of Palace managers stats.
Guess what...

Roy's point average is 1.24 so far in 110 games. Tony Pulis got a remarkable 1.46 although in only 26 matches, and Steve Coppell got 1.31.
Sam Allardyce got 1.24 exactly as Roy, and Alan Pardew only 1.21.
All other managers got less.

But what made me a laugh is the fact that Roy is described as defensive, destroying attack etc... but guess what?
His team scored 1.15 goals per match.
What about Allardyce who had Benteke scoring for fun? (and some on here say Benteke doesn't score any more because of Roy...) 1.05 goals per game
And what about Pulis? 1.00 goals per game.
What about Steve Coppell? yes... 1.15 exactly as Roy, believe it or not...
The only one scoring more is Alan Pardew 1.29

This thread is marvellous. The divide between Roy IN and Roy Out is massive and there will be no agreement anytime soon.

I am in the Roy in camp but I have had my days when I have wanted the opposite. I may be biased but I think the Roy OUT camp make absolutely no sense with their argument for wanting him gone.

The same repetitive comments about only playing defensive midfielders, but I think if you asked Jimmy McArthur he would tell you he is not a defensive midfielder. Then in the same breath you scream for Riedewald to play who is a centre back or an out and out defensive midfielder.

You bang on about lack of subs but you all seem to be blind to the fact that our benches on match days have players on it who are literally just there in case of emergency as our squad is so threadbare.

We play the same starting team because we have to, why would we play weaker players just to keep some of you lot happy? Most teams in this division have 2/3 players in every position, we have 1 striker, 1 right back, 3 wingers.

Brandon Pierrick is not the answer to our problems and more than likely will be playing in league 1 very soon and the same goes for Sam Woods. Why should he play them for the sake of it? To see if they’re good enough ? He knows they are not good enough because it is clear as mud when he watches them in the under 23’s.

Open the eyes on your heads and have a look at our squad on a weekly basis and you will see why we play as we do. Open your eyes and look at our injury lists on a weekly basis. I often hear you say but we have a good squad on paper. Paper doesn’t win football matches, half of them are constantly injured.

Schlupp, Townsend, Benteke, Sakho, Tomkins, Kelly, Cahill, Dann have all missed a massive amount of games this season.

You all have very short memories and choose to be blind to the faults in our squad. There is one reason we have stayed in this division this year and that is our defence before Covid and our boring tactics.

One last point I forget to mention was, People constantly banging on about Wickham and that he should never have been let leave. I feel sorry for Wickham as his top level career is over but he was let leave by Roy because Roy couldn’t promise the chap game time and he was also replaced with Tosun who very unluckily got injured. Again not Roy’s fault.

Now you've gone and done it!

You've identified all the problems we've faced and, they are NOT of Roy's making. He's simply tried to do the best with not a lot of options.

Your evidence for this is...?
I distinctly heard RH say that the club are trying to bring in young players. Indeed, he even went so far as to say that every player that the club has been following with a view to bringing them to Selhurst is a young player.

It does seem to be exclusive to Roy defenders to be annoyingly patronising and make out anyone who doesn’t agree with them is clueless or doesn’t know what they’re talking about - it’s pathetic.

It’s evident to anyone that there are logical points on both sides; why do we have pretend there aren’t. The issues raised about Roy of late are consistent themes throughout his whole career, over decades of management.
