This fight with Tyson is a joke but it will be on us if we pay to watch it. Both fighters were washed up well before the retired, never mind in their fifties.

In my opinion Joe C is possibly the best fighter this country has ever produced, however a prime Roy beats a prime Joe every time.

Jones did things in the ring I have never seen done by another boxer.

I tend to agree.

Still, while I think when it comes to reflexes Jones was something else it has to be said that if a non great like Tarver had the answer who is to say others wouldn't have.

I suppose there isn't such a thing as an unbeatable fighter.

He was a great fighter but tarnished his reputation by cherry picking fights and avoiding some of the greats.

Roy never cherry picked anyone.

He fought

Tarver
Hopkins
Tony
Ruiz (at heavyweight)
Hill
Trinidad
McCallum

He boxed from middleweight to heavyweight and Fought the lot, often more than once.

Until he lost to Tarver he was pretty much unstoppable, however he became shot very quickly and that is what tarnished his reputation.

Who do you think he avoided Badger?

Interesting article about his career. He certainly divides opinion, he is a great I am not denying that but the quality of some of his opponents was not.

Just putting this back at you Badger my friend, who did he duck?

I'd have to go back through the records and to be honest I can't be bothered. It's an opinion that some experts share never the less I bow to your greater knowledge.

I've always wondered why the was no fight between Joe Calzaghe and Steve Collins.

Would have been interesting.

He avoided Collins that’s for sure.

He was a good fighter a Super-middle but he wasn’t a great. Doesn’t mean he was wasn’t involved in great fights.

Calzaghe was in the hotly contested fight with Hopkins? And that is partly why he never got the credit in the States. Yanks love a fighter and Joe’s finesse wasn’t what they wanted.

Not true. They were due to fight but Collins pulled out and retired, this set up the fight between Joe and Eubank

He only agreed to fight him after he had been retired for 2 years, and at light heavy. He avoided him like the plague in the mid-90’s when all he had to lose was an IBF title.

I stand by my previous statements. Good fighter, great fights with other good fighters. I think it could be said many fighters avoided fights. You don’t end up with great records otherwise, Calzaghe included. RJ he played it well, was up there, but hung around too long. These latest moves are non-sense.
