I think he has reached his max value or very close to it. These are not the players to buy, we need to identify, buy and then move them on at max value. That is the way to make a smaller club like ours work.

Whilst I am a fan of Sarr I don't think he's been anywhere consistent enough to warrant a transfer fee north of £20mil (and from reading the press Watford want £40mil plus)

We need to be finding better value in the market than that.

Completely agree, I’d be surprised that we had £40mil to begin with let alone to blow it all on him. He’s good don’t get me wrong and would love to have him but that doesn’t seem to be good business.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I really don't think he'll want to come here and I really don't think we can afford him, but if he did and we could then I would definitely go in for him. We play on the break and having probably one of the quickest players in the PL in our line-up would be huge. The one thing we really seemed to have lacked this season is pace.

Purely hypothetical, but imagine we did clear 60m on Wilf after United's cut and that the whole sum was put into the transfer kitty to replace him; we pay 40m for Sarr and 20m for Eze and say bring in Wellbeck on a low fee. Suddenly we have some youth, serious pace and a much more threatening proposition for a counter-attacking team.

VG

Ferguson Tomkins Cahill PvA

Luka Riedewald

Andros Eze Schlupp

Sarr Wellbeck

Obviously this is just for fun, but it would certainly be exciting to see what would happen.

Spot on. Southampton have been doing it for years. They're a breeding ground for the Scousers. We could be one for the North London mobs

I heard it said recently that even if we bring in more attacking players, Hodgson will just set up the team the same way, we will still not be attractive to watch and we will still fail to score on a regular basis.
In his final 2 seasons at Fulham, they scored 39 goals in each season so they were hardly awash with goals.

This. We’ll end up with unspectacular signings this window that will present low risk in what they bring to the club and in financial terms too. Roy has never been one to play expressive dynamic football. To be fair he’s built a successful career on his methodology and kept us in the league. That’s what we’ll get next season - more of the same. ...unless we unearth an unexpected gem. I live in hope.

12 Players on the field might give us half a chance

Sarr is an exciting player but I'd rather have St-Max from Newcastle (or we could be greedy and get them both!
Having said that I don't see us spending north of £20m on a single player. We need quantity as well as quality so we can actually have a full first team squad. If we have £40m to spend I would expect us to go for 3/4 players. Also IMO Sarr is not worth £40m.

We're going to be linked with exciting and expensive players like Sarr, but end up with cheap cast offs and freebies. To cut a long story short, we've been after Antonio for two years. It takes us that long to sign a player, and West Ham will probably buy our younger targets. So if anyone thinks Antonio is a good replacement for Zaha, then you should be happy.
Badically, there is no way we are getting Sarr, including if we even bid for him.

On Newsnow there was an article stating we would be rivalling Liverpool for Sarr.

Absolutely no way we are getting anywhere near him.
