If everyone opposed going back to work then we’d see where we are pretty quickly. The furloughed office workers haven’t been back yet to have grounds to refuse. Plumbers cannot be made safe or completely safe. He did say vulnerable people are different. If we want to wrap everyone up in cotton wool for months and years we’d better get used to national poverty.

I totally get Rudi's point. But (for example) 2 of my friends are carers, whilst also teaching. They will be exposed to all sorts of potential risks by people not exhibiting symptoms when they return to the workplace.
Is this fair, or safe ?

Surely the UK needs to get "it's 5hlt together" (un-scientific term) before trying to force vulnerable people/dependents back to work in an unsafe environment ?

If they or their family at home aren’t vulnerable then yes. The alternative isn’t really a sensible option.

Only one teacher in Australia is supposed to have caught Covid off a child. Of course Coronaviruses will be going round as normal and it will cause positive tests to go through the roof and lots of sickness in workplaces. Have a sneeze or cough? Off for 1-2 weeks. It’s going to be one s*** winter.

Charlie Mullins did say vulnerable people are different, and I agree with this. Everyone needs to get on with it when they have more chance of being in an airplane crash and dying, child being hit by lightning. If people looked at the figures they’d see through the bullsh1t. But we’re an innumerate nation where being bad at maths is something to laugh about. Maths is actually very important, unless you’re a prince.

I've been tested twice in the last couple of weeks. I got tested as my housemate was advised to go by her doctor but she couldn't drive. Initially, I rang up for a test as the same time as I would be driving her down, over the phone, they refused a test, but when I got to the centre they said it was fine. We were the only patients at the centre.

Within 4 hours we both got a test saying we were clean.

My flatmate then went out and saw one of her friends, a couple of days later she got a text from her friend saying she'd had a test too and was positive.

We went back and got another test as we'd been exposed. The centre was a little bit busy but still hugely under capacity. Reminist of watching Wimbledon at Selhurst Park.

If people are concerned, test centres are empty, they can easily say they have a symptom and get tested. If no one goes to them the government won't meet there testing target. The staff at the centres are being paid just to be there, so it's not like you'd be wasting peoples time or government money. If anything, you'd be putting it to better use.

The Government is just not being straightforward with us or doesn't have a clue

The man who heads up the Adult Social Care Task force for the National Care Forum explained to us today that unfortunately the government has announced the 90 minute combined test (Flu & Covid) prior to some of the science and methodologies being fully evaluated. This is - at this time - quite a number of weeks/months away from being approved.

It's ready though just no data to prove it has a high enough success rate so HMG havent lied have they. But then again maple with your persuasion on politics you would say that wouldn't you. I bet that meeting was full of wannabe Corbyn's. Oh what a joyous sight to behold.

It is kind of you to reinterpret what I said

The National Care Forum represents organisations that provide care - no surprise eh? So Care Homes and similar. Are they all packed out with wannabe Corbyns? I guess you know better than me.

HMG states '450,000 90-minute LamPORE swab tests will also be available across adult care settings and laboratories from next week, supplied by Oxford Nanopore.'

Yet, strangely, the 'adult care settings' specialists don't believe they are getting the tests and aren't prepared or trained for them. Either Oxford Nanopore will be rolling out unapproved tests or the tests are going to take much longer to come.

As far as I can tell, the truth is there is some kind of experiment going on to see if the tests work as hoped. So don't be fooled into thinking these are being rolled out to Care Homes any time soon, at best it's a beta test.

Its no surprise to see care homes organisations come under attack from the tories as they must be deliberately fading away to send out negative messages about the government and its 'mighty' 'world-beating' performance.

Laughable if it was not so tragic.

Previous PMs Brown and Blair and Major advocated an immediate program of mass-testing at the inception of this crisis.

All we have had is Johnson-balls and we are paying the price for our stupidity.

'Wannabe Corbyns' actually yes, large public service cuts on the way.

At the beginning of the crisis there were no reliable tests, the first reliable test available was one that told them you had had the virus, stable door and horse spring to mind.

The big mistake was not shutting down the movement of people early enough and forcing those who arrived to quarantine. Apparently we got the virus from people coming from Europe so the EU got it's revenge at last (joke).

Even now there are doubts as to the effectiveness of the various tests you can have.

Anyway one for Steeleye and Mapletree this could be any government meeting.
