A now deceased pal of mine, a bachelor with his own house and a good pension (and a Palace season ticket holder) used his visits to Wetherspoons as an opportunity to stock up on sachets of salt, ketchup, etc.

I know a few blokes like that, as well as the above nice shaped beer glasses as well. They'd probably have the wallpaper off if they could get away with it.

I know an old friend who in the 80s used to ask his girlfriend to put 10P in the box whenever she needed to use his home phone.

This same chap used to arrive at parties with a bottle of wine which of course was welcome to the hosts, hide the bottle, take it home and then take it to another party and repeat his actions. This same bottle of wine was taken to several parties!

He also used to latch on to someone at the bar buying a round in the hope that he was offered a drink. Never got away with it with me, in fact I called him a "Joiner" adding that whenever someone is buying a round he joins them! He was tighter than a camel's backside in a sandstorm.

Is that first paragraph a euphemism?

Unlike him, I have no intention of being the richest man in the graveyard.
My dosh, the small amount I may have will be spent, given, gambled or drunk away.
Wont be needing heir hunters for me

My kind of thinking.

I am planning to invest my money in wine women and gambling as for the rest I will probably squander that.

I worked with a fella who apparently drove a first date to a party and ask for her share of the petrol money. I know he used to charge his electric tooth brush at work, he was a Brighton supporter too.

I met a Brighton supporter capable of peeling an orange in his pocket for fear of being invited to share it.

Nay nay and thrice nay!

A total and accurate account of the demands he made on his new girlfriend, whom he later married.
