Science doesnt work on numbers who agree.
It works on facts and proof.
You cannot vote for a scientific outcome.
There is still no categorical proof as there is no historical data apart from core samples.
These prove it was different but nothing else.
4.5 billion years of earths evolution and we think we know everything from some data collected in the last 150 years.
Money! That's why we have climate change.

I dont know if you are being wilfully ignorant or if you just dont understand how science works. If it's the former then just ignore me. If it's the latter then you should read up on the scientific method, you can find resources in every library and all over the internet but I've googled it for you just in case you arecpresed for time [Link]

You'll see that in science there is not always facts and proof, but evidence and theories. And therefore numbers who agree is very important to us - the non scientifically trained populus - to see which theory is most likely. Not even 100% of scientists agree on gravity and we have only this year seen evidence (not proof!) of gravitational waves. So to expect a 100% consensus on climate science is asking a lot. I dont know what your threshold is but I'm happy to go with the 97% for now.

But if you are hooked on facts and proof, show me the facts and proof that climate change only exists for profit and I will be happy to be proved wrong.

I was so glad to see Greta out and about again. Taking a year off for climate change was such a brave thing to do. I'm not sure my work is going to be impressed but perhaps I'll follow her heroic lead.

Record temperature here in 2019 followed by an even higher one this year, so you only have to poke your head out of the window to see something is seriously amiss.

Greenland is becoming a green and verdant land, they will be playing cricket there soon.

I would hazard a guess ironically that Greenland has lost its ice many times in the past but dont let history deny a tax rise.

The planet is passing a temperature 'tipping point'. We can accurately assess climates and temperatures from previous era's due to analysis of very deep ice core samples from the poles.
We hypothesise that the planet is know getting hotter than it has ever been since life began on Earth, and it's the startling acceleration of temperature that is worrying.

It is getting more difficult to gain information about The Earth's pre-anthropogenic history, as the ice caps melt, oceans rise and evidence is lost.

And taxing people in the UK is just a way of making a quick £££. Especially when China and the developing world are pumping out millions of tonnes of pollution.

Cryrst, I think I understand what's going on here. You are of course 100% correct that Greenland has been frozen and thawed a dozen times or more in previous millennia. The current "climate disaster" actually has nothing to do with that.

The current situation is that human activity is speeding up the natural changes in the earth's climate, leading to a potential situation in which much of the planet becomes uninhabitable to humans at a rate that we as a species will bot be able to cope with. Some predictions say this could happen in my childrens lifetime, other predictions say my grandchildren will be in the generation that bear the brunt. An alarming number of reports claim it is happening now. But either way, it is happening and it is our fault. The question shouldn't be whether or not we do something about it, but what do we do.

If we're talking solely in terms of what's best for the planet, this is the optimal outcome.

I agree for the most part. But taxing motorists in the UK is going to have no effect on China, Asia and Africa pumping the pollution out.
And that is where political boundaries destroy the ethos of planetary conservation.

We're all 'going down' together. There won't be any 'winners'

Well in london mayor khant is blocking off roads to push traffic to areas where the test stations are.
Poirot isnt needed to see why.
My cyniscm may be wrong but us as a species will not overcome nature and its resets. It doesnt matter how reduced our output becomes globally if the earth gets the hump it will reset with or without us getting a choice. No man can predict nature or placate it. Co2 levels are pretty much up and down even looking at those ice cores when man wasnt about. 0.004% give or take is optimum.
We are still at that level.

Imagine the co2 drops too low for mother earth.
Bang! it will pump it out with earthquakes.
Then some donut will say it's our fault as we reduced co2 too much. If your using figures ref the amount of scientists; have you considered that society atm doesnt allow telling how you ACTUALLY feel or beleive to be true and it gets you fired or totally ostracized if you ain't in the click.
Behind closed doors I reckon that 3% would be a lot higher. Look at the link and response.
Just saying.
I give you blm as an example of not being able to voice what you feel or believe.
Those bunch of tnucs can f off for all I care.

I see the idiots from Extinction Rebellion are at it again

The police are arresting them I hope they hang onto them for as long as possible. Manchester is under special measures because of the virus it's just "Plane Stupid" if you pardon the pun.

Government is threatening to define XR as a criminal gang.

[Link]

I think it is about time that the government and the justice system dealt with these individuals properly.

XR are different from many protest groups including BLM in one particular area. Unlike other protestors they refuse to co-operate with the police when putting on their demonstrations and often break the law and commit criminal damage with impunity.

For instance last year when they held parts of London to ransom the police urged them to agree safe places where they could protest for days whilst allowing the public to get on with their lives.

The police are well versed in negotiating with demonstrators and even anti authoritarian protestors will privately admit that they are are given a good deal of latitude to make their point.

The police would rather allow a march for several hours that holds up the traffic but passes off peacefully and work with the groups to ensure it is safe for marchers and the public.

XR will have nothing to do with this and think it is their right to make the rest of our lives hell.

The right to protest always comes with strings attached the public also have the right to go about their own business.

Time to clamp down on these middle class white liberals lets see how many enjoy a few weeks in prison and a criminal record.
