Haven't seen this anywhere but looks like really cool forgiveness.

Or politicians facing up to the reality that they destroyed their own country and now need the people who formerly ran it to come back and help out.

As for cool forgiveness I would say that more applies to South Africa where so far they haven't chased the white people out and hopefully wont.

They have positive discrimination though.
If your black, your in. If your white walk on by.
My pal is from SA and his friends report such.

Forgiving whites. That's nice considering the place would be a total hole without whites, much like most if not all of our former colonies.
Although atm it is a hole formerly if not still run by racist despots.

The economy is the problem in Zimbabwe, it is a catch-22.

But they are not 2 trillions in debt, as the UK is, they can't borrow to generate anything.

There is no interest in being nasty to white people, there is a healthy white presence in Harare, I have a white farmer friend in Bulawayo who has never experienced any of the problems posters here incorrectly assume.

What they do have, after everything, is their freedom and dignity where they were once treated like slaves in their own country.

And if you step out of line Zimbabweans will remind you of that, quite sharply.

The British lost Rhodesia because of their brutality, nobody will be going back to that.

There's little dignity to be had when you are starving.

Perhaps your farmer friend knew some of these. Let’s hope he doesn’t have a black farm manager, as they were not exempt either

The aftermath of Mugabe's fascist regime.
Now they realise that some farmers actually knew what they were doing, and their country is f-cked.
The Government of the time actually encouraged the murder of farmers, based on skin colour.

The newly released doctrine of "please come back and help us", smacks of desperation, rather than conciliation.

f-ck 'em

It takes a lot to back down from such an entrenched position.

Particularly for a bunch of hateful psycopaths who think decades of atrocities by people belonging to one race justifies them relatlitory persecution of that entire race.

Credit should be given to all involved for making such a progressive step.

There should be some kind of rebalance of wealth there, but Mugabi and his cronies lost the moral high ground.

The white farmers suffered but also so did thousands of farm workers and villages who were linked to those farms. They lost their jobs and were driven off the land by Mugabi's thugs.

I wonder how many of those villagers would have preferred life under the old white regime. They may not have had a the vote but they had a job and food on their table and law and order.

Anyway that is history what happens now is what matters. I suspect many of the white farmers wont go back largely because they are old and their children have new lives where ever they are and aren't interested.

The government today seems okay but that could easily change, farming from scratch requires a lot of time and investment why would you risk it when the rule of law means nothing and a change of government could see you lose everything.

One of the great achievement of this country was an independent and fair legal system. This was one of the drivers that helped the industrial revolution especially in the Victorian age onwards. You are not going to invest if somebody else can rob you and you have no recourse to law.

Why invest in Venezuela when the President just takes your investment away.
