£25 million is a ludicrously high amount to pay for a guy with no EPL
Experience. What we paid for Eze is about the right amount. Villa got shafted in the Watkins deal. There are lots of great young wingers in Latin America if the scouts can only be bothered to look

It seems one of the problems with South American’s is the multi ownership issues

He's Brentford's player, they hold all the cards, people will think we are are crazy asking £50 million for Wilf.

If you don't like it don't pay it.

One way to look at it is if you wanted to buy Maupay, or McBurnie who both play as forwards for Prem teams then you’d have to pay over the 20m they were bought for and in my opinion Benrahma is a far better player than those two examples.

I think to the right team he’s worth 20-25m...he might not feel like he’s worth that much to us because we’re not entirely sure where he would play.

Remember both Wilf and Benrahma can play both left and right.

Not exactly lots the level of Benrahma, but yeah, a few. And cheaper. From South America I named Christian Pavon as better than Benrahma. And cheaper too.

The need for national team matches or European citizenship (which still counts in this window even though Brexit happened) are some things to consider, which is why I thought of Pavon.

Who else would you have in mind?

Far less risk buying a player that has proved they can adapt culturally and have proved themself as quality in English league. Players from South America, no matter how good on paper are massive risk, many don't adapt to life in England or the physical game here. I'd take Benrahma all day.

Doesn't have to be necessary from South America. South America is just a discussion. But there are other players in top leagues in Europe who have adapted to top football and proven they can play there. Benrahma has zero experience at top level, so the Championship prices are just insane. Not a bad player at all, I'd like him, but don't value him at more than 10 million.

To my mind Eze and Benrahma financed by the AWB deal.

Additionally we are now probably clear of any payments for Benteke and Sakho.

On from that there will I assume general transfer budget available, as we have spent “diddly squat” in the last few windows.

I see Eze, Batsman, Benrahma, Downes and Kotchap (still think owe will see the latter 2 this window) as a statement of intent from the club that investment and more importantly investment in young talent is required if we are firstly to remain in the Prem, secondly develop and progress.

If you believe the threads we are looking at Sarr as replacement for Wilf - personally I don’t think Wilf will go, but that’s just my opinion/gut feel.

Again on personal front I am really looking forward to seeing Eze, Benrahma, Zaha and Batsman all playing together - will be exciting to watch..!!

COYP

We have about a month to see what the outcome is. However your trust that any AWB money is reinvested right back into the squad is fairly optimistic!
Wilf stays, we won't sign Benrahma. Wilf goes, we will. I will be very surprised if we sign Benrahma and Wilf stays. Just my opinion (I'd be delighted if that was the final outcome post transfer window!)

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I might be totally wrong here and can't be ar5ed to check, but I don't think Hodgson has ever played a new signing from the start of the first game they're eligible to play.

Why Eze and Batsman didn't start on Saturday baffled me. Batshuayi played for Belgium during the week, was in red hot form, scored two and was effectively dropped.

Wickham yes, Sakho hmm, Meyer no way.

Just about to turn 25, very skilful and still about 2 years away from his peak. Get him the right level of physical conditioning and a bit of confidence and he could be one of the best mid-table midfielders in this division.

If he was 32 I would agree.

I don’t disagree, I just feel that his opportunities have been limited up to now and with the arrival of Eze and IF Benrahma also comes then these opportunities are surely only going to be further reduced.
