Eddie Newton has confirmed Sorloth has told him he doesn't want to play for Trans anymore. Well, there's the gratitude you get for finally being given a chance. Not "I want to leave but until I do I'll give you 100%". Nope, instead it's "A big club wants me so I'm off". Starting to think him and his Dad might be a couple of starstruck tw*ts.

Just give us 10m and pi$$ off.

I get the annoyance regarding any form of loyalty.

However, football clubs themselves only have significant loyalty to players who hold fiscal value for them. This is a business and while relationships obviously develop the bottom line is never far away from how long a footballer is at a club.

So as football is a short career the motivation for a player to not miss out on making as much money as possible is a strong one.

Back in the day when a player's wages were more related to the working man the loyalty aspect could play a larger role. Football had a far closer connection to the working class then. It would be more common for a first team player to see out his career with his first club...Cannon for us, Brooking for West Ham and so on.

Now top level football like the Premier league is more corporate and as such more impersonal. Proper money disconnects.

It's why your local lower league club will feel more grounded and connected to its area.

Good post Stirling. Also in those days loyalty would earn you a testimonial match which could be worth a significant sum and helped a player at the end of his career to move on into another sphere

Why would that bother you? Ffs no club was interested in him when he bombed at Palace, Hes gone and made a name for himself, and performed, Trabs will earn out of this as well as Palace.

That's football, good luck to him, because personally I thought his career was over, apart from going back to Norway.

I wish him all the best, personal attack's on ex palace players, not warranted.

Anything we get is a bonus, we can all argue about if he had chances with us or not. He was s*** when he played, I remember fans of the club he came from laughing at us because we paid what we did, the truth is the only reason he is worth anything is because he scored 33 goals in Turkey. The Turks have increased his value so are due a cut.

That behaviour doesn’t seem to fit the profile of someone who would agree to pay £9mill to retain his own player.

Too cautious? I don't think so. Spending within your means is sensible, but writing off a player after 8 starts is from the same mold as sacking a manager after 4 games. Its reactionary. Palace are due to miss out on a striker that could have been what we have been looking for since Murray

This does have merit imo.
If fdb stayed we may play better than we do and still be in the top league.
If sorloth stayed we could have a 20 goal striker.
I suppose if your aunt had a pair she would be your uncle so it's all ifs buts and maybes.

I'll get me coat!

Still baffled as to how they've managed to walk off with 20m for a player they don't own & other than part covering his wages they've laid out sod all. €34m is a hell of a deal if correct but how have we not got the Lion's share ?

I'm also just catching up on all this now.

Why can't we get him back again? Or do we just not want to...? If anyone's earned a second crack here, it's got to be him?

Sorry you're all probably sick of talking about it.

Did you watch any of those 8 starts?
Did you see any of the 19 games for Gent?

It is frustrating that he has gone away and done well. Did anyone think at the time he would be the next Glenn Murray. More Judy Murray the games I watched.

If we can some how make a tidy profit on a player that has managed 16 games for us and scored zero goals. I think the club should be congratulated.

Batshuayi’s record in a Roy team was 11 games, 6 goals. FYI

What a blinder for the Turkish side who pay us the contractual price of £6m and pocket the huge balance.
They must have taken Palace as mugs to have arranged these terms!!

Two differen players

batsy will run away trying to fine the ball

Sorlorth was a No 9... different role. one role uncle roy is clueless about!
Bet Murray was pleased he didnt play under Roy, Glenn would have been stuck on the wing and told to defend!!
