Don't mind us being this negative when we are playing Manchester United. Bats, Sakho, Eze, Meyer, Mitchell, Schlupp on the bench.

Think the whole team just had an off day against Bournemouth as they weren't motivated

He did...but for a brilliant Belgium team playing against a team of cod fishermen...

The old, "how many would i get playing up front for celtic or rangers" thing

Roy has stated that none of those returning from injury are match fit, and after the Bournemouth game said Luka isn't either, so I don't expect too much change; in fact, I expect to see the same line-up as against Saints. Eze will need to work much harder defensively to cover Mitchell if he does start, but I think Roy may stick with Schlupp purely because he takes orders well and will get back and cover Tyrick. For me, at some point, I'd like to see:

Guiata

Ward Kouyate Dann Mitchell

Zaha McCarthy McArthur Eze

Batshuayi Ayew

Townsend did much better last week, but I still like the idea of us offering more of a threat on both wings. Ayew will always come deep and help out, but I don't see him on the right of midfield. We're going to spend 90% of the game in our own half so we have to make the breakaways count, like we did last season

Hennessey
Ferguson Cahil Tomkins PVA
Meyer Luka McCarthy Jairo
Benteke Wickham

Tongue-in-cheek before anyone gets there knickers in a twist. Seems to me, Roy & a lot of fans have written us off before the game's even started, hey ho.

Jairo won't be fit. He will only join in full training for the first time since his injury tomorrow. At best he'll be on the bench imo

There's no way Ayew doesn't start, he does defensive work and buys free kicks. Schlupp can also double up to help Mitchell out which for me rules out Eze.

Same team as last week I'd imagine - only question mark for me is if Roy wants to reintroduce Luka now he's had more game time, though I'd imagine not.

Its Man United first game of the season. Let's attack them from the start and show no fear. Get into them. Use the skillful players to run at the defence taking players on. Gets balls into the box for Batman to play off. Jairo would be the ideal player to get the ball forward into the attacking players feet.

This team but stick with Kouyate instead of Sakho.

edit: just see that Jairo is injured apparently so the other Jimmy Mac in his place

Also from what Roy said yesterday, Sakho won't start as Roy is looking to take to Manchester only those players who are fully match fit and ready for a 90 minute PL game (not players who have come off the bench for some game minutes in a lower key cup game). So Kouyate very likely to start alongside Dann. Equally, don't expect Luka to start, though I'm sure he'll be on the bench.
